We did MyGym last year, now we do music class, story time at the library and Barnes and Noble, plus swimming. The library also has a toddler discovery (really just playing) class on Mondays for the summer that we have been doing.

This summer we're doing 2 organized classes that cost money. School is on summer break and I want to enjoy these last few months with her before she starts school in the fall and baby arrives in December

We're doing gymnastics once a week that we pay for and swim lessons that we pay for.

Other than that I did a parenting class once a week where she went to child care last month. This month we're in a summer reading program that is twice a week.

There are also options through the children's museum if you have a membership. So you might look into that. It's drop in so you don't have to go but ours offers them twice a week for members and they do a good job - a theme, songs, story, a nice craft (not just coloring) and lots of sensory activities for free play.

I find it a little hard to find classes for the under 3 group - once they turn 3 all kinds of classes open up.

During the school year LO goes to "school" (was 2x a week and will go to 3x a week) and we do a music program once a week that we pay for.

We have really loved our Kindermusik classes.

As for the potty training, my LO (just turned 3) isn't yet and he's enrolled in the fall in preschool. They do require it but say they're "flexible" for the first month or so, and claim peer pressure is very helpful for the holdouts. I hope so! (But we are going to make a much more concerted effort soon. Our potty training Hail Mary.)

@littlek: I am kind of surprised by the potty training stringency, there is a little girl in my son's camp and she is still in diapers and my guess is she's at least 3.

Have you looked at nature centers for a 2's program? That's how I found my son's current camp and it's where he'll go in the fall for formal preschool.

During the school year he goes to "preschool" for 2 yr olds two days per week, 3 hours each day. He also goes to a "Music Together" music class weekly and I am signing him up for swim lessons starting in Sept. We will probably add another class of some sort once the baby arrives as well, just so he has something going on pretty much every day.

@littlek: yikes! we might start him in a program that's more like a daycare that turns into preschool at age 3. I want to start him in some program by October because I want him to be used to it....and I know I will want a little time alone with his little brother or sister in December :)

we have a membership to a local farm that has a children's barn / playroom, and go to that once a week. we go to the science museum if its raining. the only paid class we do is a parent/child class through the Waldorf school. other than that we go to story times, and free music time at the local libraries.

@Foodnerd81: I took DS to a trial music class when he was 9/10 months. It was too much for him at that age. He was def the youngest and wasn't able to keep up with a lot of the activities. I think it's def better for 1+ after they're walking for a music class!

@winniebee: I've been looking at preschools and he can't get in till he's 3. There are some options for 2.5 but he is too young and not potty trained. The potty training is huge sticking point, they kick out kids if they have too many accidents.

Basically what @Foodnerd81: said :) Everything here is during nap time, so hopefully when she goes down to one nap in a few months we can start going to morning activities. I want to take her to a music one and maybe a messy play.

Right now, none. I think we will try to sign up for something in the fall when the weather starts turning and she will be over a year. I know she would like a music class, but they are all during nap time! Or just really expensive and don't seem worth it for an under 1 year old.

I am researching a pass to the children's museum as I type though.

This year she did music one morning a week and school two mornings a week. That was plenty for us...I don't like being scheduled every day. That left time for playdates or errands or whatever else we wanted to do. She turned 3 in March.

What about a soccer clinic? They begin at 18 months near me....but they require parent involvement, like you literally have to run the field with them, lol.

If you have a children's museum nearby, the might offer one off classes. Ours does and they're quite fun.

We don't do any! Between regular play dates, errands, and our own fun activities we don't really have much time. Plus, I didn't want to spend money on classes during the summer when there are so many outdoor activities available. We may start gymnastics in the winter.
