Preschool's in the same facility, so essentially, there's no real difference from daycare, it's just that the bigger kids get extra lessons on the side. We can't afford it. In its place I bring him to a lot of mommy and me play groups and free storytime activities. We go on long walks and I try to stay involved in his learning. Ideally, we'd wait until four, but we'll see how things go. My first definitely needed the stimulation, social interaction, and structure of preschool. We sent her at 2.5 yo and have no regrets!</p> <p>[This was also in NYC and I didn't find the admissions process too tough at all! Perhaps we were lucky though as our neighborhood had a ton of young families (UWS), and rather than having issues of overcrowding, a few new preschools opened up and we got into a great program pretty easily!]</p> <p>Our 2nd child is doing just fine at home and I honestly don't even think she needs preschool (2-3 program). I can very well see how she will be prepared for pre-K at age 4. She goes on play dates regularly, follows instructions well, knows her ABCs, shapes, numbers and colors...
