I have not thought about it at all until more recently. My LO is 14 months old - throwing a lot more tantrums and I think we may be transitioning to one nap. It's just more changes I need to adjust to, but it's been hard the past month. However, I do love our lazy mornings together, not having to rush and get out the door, eating lunch together (he enjoys "sharing" now), reading stories to him before naptime, going to the park in the middle of the day, etc. I know in my heart I would still rather be a full-time SAHM, but man, the whining is just overwhelming sometimes! I've been needing a lot more "me" time on weekends to recharge and luckily my husband's been understanding.

I've only been home for two weeks, but I don't want to ever go back to a job like my old one, or potentially anything with strict 9-5 hours or whatever. I do hope to find something with flexible or make my own hours that I could do around the kids school schedules for some extra fun money for the family. But I hope to be able to go on school trips etc, pick then up if the get sick at school, be home in the summers.., we will see how finances feel with me at home though.

Yep...I get bored. I've been looking into wah options...and this semester I'm taking some classes, just to get out of the house during the day while DS is in school.

Not until all my babies are in school. I don't think I'd want to be a SAHM once they're all in school. I'd love to work part time then.

I would love to go back to work, to be honest. I really miss it. The SAHM thing is hard and sometimes I am sure WOHM would be easier.

No. I will probably have to eventually for financial reasons, but if I had my say I'd never go back. I'm 100% sure I could still fill my day with productive things even when LO is at school. And I'd love to volunteer at her school, go on field trips, etc, but I can't do that while working, even part time.

Sometimes. I miss feeling excited about projects and having long term goals related to things other than LO...and I miss feeling valued in a professional way. I also (probably wrongly) feel like if I worked, parenting duties/household duties would be more evenly split, and maybe I would have less guilt about needing to do everything myself.

I keep waffling on looking for part time work this fall...my main hold out is the cost of childcare around here.

I was at home for 2 years and I needed to go back to work, but I think my situation was a bit different in that I lived abroad and was a bit isolated and alone. Had I been in my stomping grounds, I might still be at home.

I am contemplating what to do when my contract is up, part of me wants to stay home again but part of me wants to keep working so I can help my husband retire earlier.

@RubyCali: OMG, I sleep so much better now as a SAHM...the stress and anxiety with work was slowly killing me! I totally know what you mean about feeling weird about not missing it and not dying to go back...like people think I'm an underachiever or slacker or that I have no purpose/identity. My husband tells me that's in my head and no one thinks that about me...that everyone knows how hard I work at being a SAHM...but I think there is a stigma that SAHMs are lazy or not as hard working as other parents.

@sandy: I feel the same way. I miss the interaction and sense of accomplishment, but I definitely do not miss the stress and daily anxiety that my work brought with it.

I really enjoy being a SAHM and sometimes I feel guilty for that, like that I am weird for not waning to go back to work.

I have been a SAHM for 21 months now and I still love it. There are definitely things I miss about having a career and going into an office but I did that for a long time before have LO...I miss the interaction, purpose and achievement that came with working but I don't miss the stress, lack of time, commute, office politics...and I really do feel like I was made to be a SAHM. My husband says I approach being a SAHM like I approached my job...I plan our days together and get stuff done around the house so we can enjoy our evenings and weekends. I do have some insecurity about not returning to work (I was an attorney) but most days I'm too busy to think about it :)

Sometimes I wish I could work. I think it has a lot to do with us having bought a house half an hour away from friends and family. I sometimes miss adult interaction. But, when I have to leave her for even half an hour I miss her like crazy, I don't think I can get a job unless they don't mind me having a mini assistant (:

Yep. Considering applying for a job now. But thinking I might wait until LO is a year. I enjoy it but I never intenteded to be a SAHM forever and miss working. I quit my previous job because I hated it and the pay was crap so it wasn't worth it!
