If I'd had a career first, I don't know what I would have done/decided. I probably would have taken 12 weeks of leave (FMLA, you're legally allowed up to 12 weeks unpaid) but my LO just turned 12 weeks yesterday and I can't imagine leaving him right now! The only time I really miss it is when I hear from my friends who I went to grad school with and they're so far along in their career, lisenced and board certified, speaking at conferences, doing all sorts of projects that will help lots of people, and I'm not even a little close to any of that. I worked for 6 months after I graduated..... which was so long ago!</p> <p>But when I really think about it I know I'd rather be at home with my LO. Yes, it would be nice to have more money, but really I wouldn't make enough to cover childcare anyway. And my friends that have their career going don't have any kids. I do, and my LO is my first priority right now. I could not be happier when I get to cuddle with my little boy in the morning...I couldn't imagine someone else getting to experience that. I love that I don't necessarily have a schedule to stick to, I like that I get to go for walks/runs in the afternoon when I want to. </p> <p>I just look at is as I have my whole life to work, but my children will only be this age once. It's been really hard financially for us living on just my husband's income, but I know that with no degree and no experience I wouldn't make enough to justify childcare anyhow. </p> <p>Do you SAHMs miss your working days too? </p>
