I've been a WOHM and I liked it enough at the time, but not like I love being a SAHM now. So while I miss working sometimes, I love the fact that I can give 100% of my time to myself and my family more than anything.

I love that I have a flexible schedule and can run errands during the week so weekends are mostly family fun time. I take the time to volunteer at DD's school as a room parent and take my other DD to classes and play dates too. Those are things I always wished I could do as a WOHM, but just couldn't.

Yes, it's exhausting and I do find myself going borderline insane at times, but it's nothing that a little "me" time can't fix. (I'll have lunch or dinner with a girlfriend or go on date night with DH). I know I'll go back to work, at least part-time at some point, so I just look at the bright side of things for now.

Sometimes. Now that I'm freelancing a bit more the desire to go back to an office is less intense, thankfully. I'm thankful not to have to get back to an office at times like these, when I'm snowed in at my parents' house with LO!

Hellllllllll no. I wish I could work my old job (research) two afternoons a week - that's all I could stand to be away from her. I miss working some, but I would certainly not prefer it over staying home. We have a nice little routine going.

@Rubies: I was itching at the 7 month mark too!

I'm going back to work in less than 4 months, and as much as i love LO, i can't wait to go back to work. I think i might feel differently if the weather was nice here, but it's friggin winter 6 months of the year! You can't go to parks, or enjoy nice walks outside...and i haaaate going to the mall.

I don't miss working. I love the flexibility of being a stay at home mom: if I want to go spend the week at my sister's I can, I can schedule doctor's appointments whenever I want, I grocery shop when the store is dead, I get to go back to sleep in the mornings until the baby wakes up for good, etc.

The keys for me are to get out of the house everyday. If I have something to mail I will drive it to the post office instead of put it in our mailbox, I take a long walk, go talk to my neighbors, etc. I also schedule a lot of lunch and coffee dates with friends, and make sure she gets time with her grandmas each week which gives me a break.

Nope, not at all. I absolutely love being a SAHM and wouldn't trade it for anything. I love spending every minute with L and can't imagine being away from her for hours each day.

Yes and no. I think it's boring sometimes and miss adult interactions but I couldn't imagine missing her crawl/walk/talk for the first time etc... Somedays it's so fun to play with her and run around town and other days I want to run away lol

I'd love to work part-time or get a nanny for two days a week!

Yes and No. DD is 15 months old and while I'm very thankful I had the opportunity to stay home with her for that long, I'm ready to get back to the work life (and will be doing son in a month).... In a few years when the next one/two come along I hope to work part-time / stay home part-time.

No way. It's hard, yes. Especially on rainy days like today. But I hate being away from my lo, I love being able to spend this time with her. I do wish I were able to get more things done..... But having a job wouldnt solve that problem.

If I had it my way I wouldn't work until she was much older. I want to be able to drop her off and pick her up from school, volunteer at school, take her to after school activities like dance class, etc. And still have time for every day things like grocery shopping, laundry, and taking care of the younger kids that ill have in the future :)

I definitely miss the adult interaction and me-time during coffee breaks, as well as getting satisfaction from completing projects that don't involve baby or house. But, I don't want to go back to work for several more years because I feel like I would miss so much and they are only babies for such a short time in the scheme of things. I love being there for all the little day to day things.

I get frustrated with the kids but I don't miss working. I wish I contributed to the income of our family but 4 kids in daycare is way more than my teachers salary so I can justify it a bit. I was going to write more but the children have decided my hellobee time is done.

I was just talking about this with someone the other day. I definitely miss working. Like @erwoo said...I miss the interaction with other adults. Many of the people I worked with became good friends and not just co-workers...however; as much as I miss working I think I would miss staying home even more if I were working...if that makes sense. I am so glad I am able to stay home now and be with my daughter every day. I know I will probably have to go back to work at some point so I am trying to enjoy each and every day I'm a SAHM...even the days I want to pull my hair out!

Sometimes!

It depends on the day. Sometimes I love the opportunity to just be at home all the time and not worry about showering every day, getting dressed, packing a lunch, commuting, etc... but other times I would love an opportunity to "miss" my son because I feel I might value my time with him more that way. I would like to make money and feel like I contribute more to the household.

On the other hand I love being able to witness all of Cobi's milestones firsthand! I love watching him play, learn and grow and I know I have been given a wonderful gift of this exclusive time with my first baby :)

I do go crazily insane sometimes. I miss working a lot...A LOT! I miss the daily interactions with people my age and I miss what I used to do. I miss everything about working. I've loved almost every single job I've had in the past. I loved all of my old colleagues. I think that's what makes it easy for me to say that I miss working. I will probably go back to work when my youngest is in kinder but that won't be for quite a few years...

My one-year mat leave had me itching to go back to work! Yes, it was great to be off but by the time LO was 7 months old, I was one tired mama. And yeah, daycare reopens tomorrow and I. Can't. Wait.
