@Tidybee: @CupQuakeWalk: ha Lo only likes one show as well and we only have like 5 episodes of it...pretty sure he has seen them all like 10 times! I sometimes think he likes them more if he's seen them before.

for me, it's around 4pm...LO usually eats dinner around 530, so the hour between 4 and 5 is TOUGH--it's basically a count down til he eats, and then he's in a good mood til bathtime.

@owlmom: i reassure myself and rationalize that in the spring/summer, we'll make up for the tv time with playing outside til dinner.
@CupQuakeWalk: yes dvr -- i DVR sesame street every morning and then just play that day's episode later on. They've started to repeat but Ive got 22 Sesame Streets in DVR so I just go to one of them in a pinch.

It depends on the day b/c sometimes my husband is home by 4 and other days he's home after she goes to bed. So on those days, her dinner seems to get moved up a bit. ;) But around 5pm I start my countdown if I'm still alone, haha.

5:30pm. Usually this is when I get a call from DH that he'll be working late and simultaneously when DD begins her clingy, fussy time. Plus dinner. Yuck.

@Tidybee: buffer hour, you say? I think I need to try this. LO isn't into TV except for ONE show which comes on at about 11am (Fred & Fiona). Maybe i'll DVR it so that he can watch it at 5pm instead of 11am.

I start counting down at 4:00- because it seems soooo close (yet so far). But things don't usually get rough until about 5:00 when I start making dinner. Some nights it goes fine and she lets me wear her or is entertained by the Tupperware cabinet. Other nights are epic melt downs until dinner.
6 until 7 is usually pretty easy though- she's always happy while eating dinner and in the bath- and then she gets into that hyper manic state during naked time....and then bed.
I never actually know if he'll be home before she goes to bed so I try not to count on it!

Sesame Street goes on at 4:30 sharp to
Give me a few minutes to myself to do those last things around the house before DH gets home and to get dinner prepped. I know by 5:30 she will be in full blown needy fussy mode so it helps to have a buffer hour in there so that I can deal with it!

@CupQuakeWalk: Haha. You get me ;) The fact that whining goes along with it really is the icing on the cake. Seriously. It grates on my nervesss. The other night when J got home I went into the other room and sat in the dark. He was so confused about what I was doing haha. The answer was absolutely nothing. And it was glorious lol.

It's 5:30 for me too!!! For the same reasons...I'm trying to cook dinner while keeping the kids content, toddler thinks he wants things but then doesn't but then does and then starts incessantly whining/screaming, infant doesn't understand why she can't get attention, I'm trying to make sure the house doesn't look like a tornado came through when DH gets home, etc etc etc

I'm at that point right now! Dinner is in the middle of cooking and DS is whining and crying because he wants a drink. Meanwhile he has a cup of water and a cup of milk available to him! Hes just miserable at this point and I'm really pushing that edge where I just want to lock myself in the bathroom ;-)

5:30 PM for me. That is when I start to count down the seconds until DH gets home and until LO gets to bed.
Firstly, by 5:30pm, it's officially been about 9h straight of baby-time, no momma time and constant running around. So, physically and mentally, i'm drained.
Second, it's dinnertime so i've got dinner, LO, laundry and whatever else going all at once. It seems like things really get busy around now.
Lastly, LO gets insane. He really does. At T-1.5 hours until bedtime, he is inconsolable and like a terror. I tried to move his bedtime up with no luck.
It's 5:15 now, dinner just started, i'm about to throw a load into the dryer and I can start to see the angry creeping up in LO. Bye!
