I'm still on maternity leave so basically SAH right now. I pump after my morning feed. LO is 10 weeks old and usually sleeps 7-8 hours so when he wakes up after that he never empties all the milk I have. I just pumped after nursing him and got 4 ounces (a full bottle for us).

@Ash: oh that's awesome! I usually get 4oz when I pump in place of a feeding...I guess I will try it tonight and see what happens.

@hilsy85: well I don't have a huge supply but I'd get about 4 ounces. Up until a month ago she only nursed on one side so that helped.

That was another problem of mine - I wanted to do it when lo1 wasn't running around.

Same as @Ash! I usually pump right before I go to bed, about 2 hours after her last feed.

@MrsBrewer: gah I would prob get the most then, but the thought of fully waking up to pump is just awful!!!

@youboots: this would be ideall...I just needto figure out how to do it with LO1 here and demanding attention at the same time.

@Ash: this might be my best bet because LO1 is sleeping by then. How much do you get when you pump?

@hilsy85: I feel like it bumped it up because I was emptying. I never wanted to pump during the day and then piss her off if I was empty and she wanted to eat. And I absolutely refuse to pump in the motn.

I'm just trying to figure this out too. My 6 week old often takes a long nap in the middle of the day which sometimes coincides with the toddlers nap. So when the stars align I can shower and pump before ether wake up and cross my fingers that the baby doesn't wake up hungry. We are still just getting her used to bottles so I figured if she woke up right when I finished I'd just give her the bottle I pumped, as annoying as that is.

I would definitely get the most milk early morning, like @MrsBrewer: said, but I'm just not willing to give up that precious sleep!

@hilsy85: my supply was always the lowest at night also! I found my best time to pump was at the 3-4am feeding. I would feed her from one side, and she would normally be full after that. I would then pump for like 10 minutes to empty my other side, but I would still pump from the side she ate from too and I would get maaaaybe 1/2 an ounce. It sucked being up that little extra in the middle of the night but I ended up getting 3-4 oz every session! So I thought it was totally worth it!

@Ash: lke immediately after? I feel like my supply is always lowest then. but maybe then pumping after would be good to bump it up a little...

If you're a SAHM and you pump just to have a bit of milk if you need to go out/LO takes an occasional bottle, or if LO takes up to 1 bottle a day, when do you fit in that pumping session? Do you pump a little bit after each nursing session? Or do you add an extra pump session? Pump after MOTN feeding?
