There is a book called Slow & Steady Get Me Ready that has an activity to do every week of life from birth-age 5. :) I like doing some of those, like my daughter's this week is exploring water - filling a sponge and letting the water out and letting LO play with it, wetting cotton balls to show dry and wet, adding food coloring to a glass of water, etc.

We generally spend most or all of the day out of the house. We leave the house at 8.30am to collect nanny LO then usually head to a park, then playschool for drop-in and circle time. Lunch and nap in the stroller while I go online at the library or coffee shop then either a class or a visit to a museum or aquarium (we have memberships so it doesn't cost extra). Sometimes we spend the afternoon playing at my place but not too often. We get home again at about 5.50pm. So we're busy but LO has lots of fun and stimulation, it works for us.

My daughter is 16 months and we don't have a set schedule and things change if we have playdates or other activities to go to, but we do follow a basic routine. If I don't have the car (we have only 1 vehicle but my husband works from home some days or I will drive him to work) it is usually:
-Wake up & nurse
-Shower together or go downstairs and eat breakfast
-Read & play with her toys until naptime (nurse her to sleep then put in the crib) - while she's napping I get housework or business stuff done or just play around on my laptop lol
-Lunch when she wakes up
-Play outside or inside if it isn't nice out
-Take a walk to our mailbox
-Do chores while she plays in the living room
-Naptime #2 if she'll take it and while she naps I start dinner and then hubby comes home

Once my husband is home, we finish dinner together or he will play with DD while I finish, and then we have family dinner and usually just watch tv or talk while playing with DD until her bedtime routine starts around 8-8:30 and she is nursed to sleep around 9.

If we are going out for the day, it is usually in the morning for a park playdate, library activity, or moms club meetup, or I will go shopping or take her to the park to play on her own. When we play at home, it is usually reading, playing with her toys, having her identify colors/animals/body parts, playing in rocks outside, listening to music and singing kids songs, or exploring the common areas in our neighborhood, etc.

Miss A (almost two!) naps in the afternoon so our days generally consist of a morning activity and then home in time to have lunch and then nap. On Mondays and Wednesdays we go to a local playgroup, Fridays we go to a music class, Tuesday and Thursdays we usually take a long walk with the dog and finish up at the playground.

Downtime at home is spent playing in the garden on nice days and Miss A is reasonably "self-sufficient" so she is often quite happy just pottering around outside or fossicking in her toy box. She also loves "gardening" - which usually involves shifting dirt round with her trowel or pulling out flowers :-)

I really enjoy our schedule as it is at present because I like having a couple of days at home to relax and keep on top of the housework but I equally enjoy getting out of the house on the other days.

Our days are pretty chill. I feel stressed if I over plan. I'm just not really into a bunch of scheduled classes/activities. Maybe when she's older...? We sing and play instruments, and jump around all day at home. We are working on a letter of the week project, so we do an activity for that every day, which has been fun. I clean when she's napping or after she's gone to bed (if I clean at all :silly: ).

As far as socialization, I have a group of girlfriends with LO's, and we get together usually once a week for a play date. She's also is in a great Sunday School class at church.

We do the park, errands, lunch/dinner dates, museums, etc. to get out of the house. We do walk around Target sometimes for fun, but we both enjoy that! I try to get out with her at least 3 times per week.

The flexibility is part of the reason I really love being a SAHM!

I am home 1-2 weekdays with my LO. I really want to do more with her but we usually just play around the house & run errands. Last week we did "art" with a paper bag, finger paint and dried pasta. We go to the neighborhood playground a lot or go for walks in the stroller.

@catomd00: I am NOT a morning person but I really like the idea of getting up right away and getting out of the house for coffee. Sounds energizing and also like a recipe for a good morning nap for LO. Where do you go? Our nearby Starbucks is highly trafficked in the mornings & I think it would be chaotic with a 1 year old.

I am home with a 7 and 23 month old. DS goes to daycare 2x a week. On days he's at home this is roughly what our schedule looks like.
8am everyone is up.
8:30 kids are changed, we have breakfast. DD watches and play in the RNP, or jumperoo. After breakfast we all play together.
9:30 DD naps, I take DS out to the yard to run and play
11:30 DD awake and they play while I make lunch
1pm kids nap after lunch and clean up
3pm we go out to run errands
5pm daily walk, DD takes catnap in the Ergo
6pm I make dinner, kids play. If he is having a rough day I'll let DS watch an episode of Daniel Tiger while DS hangs in the kitchen with me.
6:30 dinner
8:15 husband comes home, plays with kids for 10 minutes. :(
8:30 bedtime

It's so hard to plan things with friends when DD needs so many naps. I imagine when she drops the third nap it'll be worse cuz i'll have to move her second nap and it'll bracket DS's so I won't even get a break.

I'm solo parenting during the week right now while my husband works at his new job out of state (gets home late on Fridays, leaves suuuuuuuper early on Mondays) so this is how our week looks:

-I wake up around 7, shower, take care of the dogs, make coffee
-J wakes up between 7:30-8, I dry my hair while he plays in his crib
-I go get him between 8-8:30, we eat breakfast
-He watches Daniel Tiger or DVR'd Sesame Street while I clean the kitchen and get diaper bag packed up for morning outing
-We go out from 10-12 almost every day: park, library, grocery shopping, mall, Target, etc
-Home for lunch around 12, down for nap by 1
-From 1-2 or 2:30, I either take a nap, browse the internet, or do something productive, depends on the day ;)
-Up from nap by 2:30, we're out the door again for the same stuff from 3-4:30 or 5. I'll bring along a snack - usually a pouch of applesauce or yogurt.
-Home by 5:30, J eats dinner at 6. Sometimes I eat the same thing for dinner, sometimes I eat a snack.
-Bathtime at 6:30.
-Lotion and PJs, cup of milk, brush teeth and hair, book, song, and bed by 7.

It's not a very strict schedule and I don't get bent out of shape about the day looking wildly different, as long as we get out of the house at least once and we have a solid nap time in the neighborhood of 1-2 PM. Evenings are a lot easier when my husband is home, but I like this routine and I LOVE early bedtime. It's saving my sanity!

ETA: I try to organize rooms when we leave them throughout the day - the kitchen after meals, the living room after TV time, his nursery etc. This keeps evening "clean up" to a minimum. I do laundry once during the week at night after J is in bed, and a larger load over the weekend when DH is home. I vacuum every few days in the morning during Daniel Tiger time too. I don't try to do much housework during the day, in addition to child care. That's too much for this mama ;)

We have a class if some sort every day but Friday. Usually a few play dates and lots of walks. Friday we keep open for whatever comes up. This Friday I'm driving an hour and a bit to visit a friend and her new baby.

This week for example:
Monday morning: stroller workout class. Afternoon: neighbour play date
Tuesday morning: Kindermusik. Afternoon: walked into town and shopped
Wednesday: 6 month doctor appointment. Afternoon: baby group and then play date
Thursday morning: stroller workout class. Afternoon: having 3 friends and their babies over
Friday: going to visit a friend

Whew. This week was busier than I like. But it's flying by!

My son is almost 7 months.

I try to get up an hour or so before my LO wakes up, to have some quiet time. Once LO is up (usually 7:30), I give him his milk and start fixing breakfast/packing my husbands lunch. We eat breakfast, then LO plays as I clean up, and we see daddy off to work. Then we play in the backyard or do chores together until nap around 11. While LO naps I will get on the treadmill/get ready/read. When LO wakes up it's lunch time, then after clean up we'll usually head out- running errands, library, grocery store, zoo, whatever needs to be done or sounds fun. We get home and watch a little tv before I start preparing dinner. LO eats around 5:30 and is bathed & in bed between 6:30-7.

I tend to get bored too. Getting out of the house helps break the day up, even if it's just stepping into the backyard! I try to think of projects I can do around the house to keep me busy - organizing a drawer, cutting coupons, etc. My LO is pretty independent and I just let him tear up the house during the day (in the rooms that are child proof of course) and pick up a little at nap and the rest after he goes to bed.

Wake around 7
Have breakfast around 7:30, play for a while
He watches a show while I get dressed, clean up from breakfast and empty the dishwasher
I get him dressed and we leave the house around 9/9:30 almost every day. We almost always go to the park for 30-60 minutes, and then I will run errands, do grocery shopping, or take him to music class.
We go home for lunch, and he naps from 12:30-2:30
After his nap, we go out again around 3/3:30, and it's kind of a repeat of the morning--some park, some errands or grocery shopping, or a class.
Home around 5:30. I start cooking dinner around 6, DH gets home around then
Dinner at 6:30/6:45
Bath at 7:30, bed at 8.

We will sometimes do a bigger trip like a trip to the zoo or the botanic gardens as our big morning or afternoon activity, or have a playgroup planned. We are out of the house twice a day EVERY day unless one of us is really sick or the weather is horrible.

I was home with LO over the summer and our schedule was pretty simple. She woke at 5:30-6 and had milk. She free played or followed us around the house for 1.5 hours while DH got ready for work and I drank coffee, woke up, got dressed, etc. At 7:45 I'd make her breakfast and she would eat at 8. We'd play (read books, play with toys, take out the trash which she loves to do) till 9 when she had her first nap. While she slept, I made her milk straw cup and her lunch and packed it in a thermos (to keep it hot). Then I would usually relax/FB/HB. When she woke up, I'd dress her for the day and head out--usually a park or errands in the stroller, or sometimes a play date. We walk everywhere. Lunch was given at the park, for a change of scenery. Home by 2 for afternoon nap. I tidy up while she sleeps. Then when she wakes up either a second trip to the park, a mommy happy hour, or indoor play until dinner.

No classes, but if I SAH for more than 2 months I would probably sign up for at least one, and would attend library story time.

Mornings are breakfast, get dressed, often pack a lunch and leave for big activity of the day. On a weekly basis the activities are: class for each LO ( the other one watches or we go to the park), two big city excursions ( like a museum or some free event or farther playground), one errand day, one farmers market day, and one close to home day when I catch up on cleaning and laundry and we will just go to a playground near the house. Come back to nurse/nap LO2. LO1 has to entertain himself for a bit and then we do a more intricate activity together (harder puzzle, art project, reading/chatting about longer book or if I'm exhausted I will let him watch 1 show and then we talk about it). Afternoon is low key- I cook dinner from scratch so it takes a while and the kids play together and then we play together (obstacle course, drawing, playing instruments etc) or read books. If in the morning we did errands then we will go to the playground. After dinner I clean the kitchen (and dishes from the whole day) and we pick up toys . Then bath, story, (nurse) bed.

@twodoghouse: that sounds just like me and my twin boys when they were that age. I didn't get out a ton until they were taking 2 naps. Now that they are almost 2 and taking 1 nap it is much easier to get out.

I don't really have a set schedule either except for naps (always at 1). I try to get out of the house in the morning (play gym, aquarium, library, shopping, park, walk, or visits with friends/family) so they get a good nap at home otherwise they're cranky later.

We usually wake up and have breakfast together while listening to some music
He gets a half hour video while I do dishes and put in laundry
Then we either go to the park, have a dance party (dance to music), then we go for a walk which he usually naps during, lunch afterwards followed by another 30 min video while I clean up, then usually read books, do crafts or play with toys.

On Tuesdays and Fridays we try to do storytime or something social with other children.

I'm home Thursdays and Fridays with my 18 month old (and the weekends, but those are less structured for us because we like the flexibility if my husband isn't working). These are our "goals" but it doesn't always look like this, obviously!

Thursday (as this is our first day at home after my 3-day workweek, we generally try to stay home all day to reconnect and ground!)
Wake up
Breakfast
Wash dishes (I pull a stool to the sink and she "helps"), Sweep (she "helps" with her own little broom), Fold laundry (she "helps" or plays by herself) and more cleaning
Outdoor play until snack time (usually we just play in the yard/driveway or go for a walk in the neighborhood. she brings her basket to collect treasures.)
Snack time
Errands if we have to, otherwise we do some art, or go back outside
lunch
nap at around 11:30
After nap we go for our walk/jog in the stroller
snack
we had been going to the garden, the forest, or the farm, but as winter comes I think this will become our baking day!
cook dinner / independent play
dinner
bed time routine

on Fridays we go to a parent/child class in the mornings, and in the afternoon things look pretty much the same. as the days get colder and shorter we will be adjusting this. i'm also trying to decide what activity to add to our afternoons on friday. my daughter takes very short naps (like, an hour) so its a big chunk of time. another addition that i see coming is adding a short, focused "circle time" of song, finger plays, and a book, after doing the dishes but before cleaning.

when i was staying home full time we went to story time once a week, music at the library once a week, and went to the children's science museum on rainy days. now that she has 3 days in daycare I"m trying to keep our home days pretty quiet.

I have 5 month old twins so there is no schedule. Everything is chaos! No really, we have a pretty good nap schedule going but their awake time is still hovering around 1 hr 45 minutes so in between naps they eat, have diaper changes, we read a couple books and play on the floor. I'm curious to hear how other people spend their days to get ideas for the future!

We don't have a set schedule but I usually grocery shop 3 times during the week so it's one of our "activities". I am not that great at weekly meal planning so right now I plan a few days in advance at most and buy the items we need for those few days. The staples like milk, fruits, and bread, I buy every Sunday. DD also goes to a music class once a week and has a play date with church friends once a week.

Some of our at home activities are:
Playing with toy foods, (she's getting a kitchen for Christmas)
We have tons of tea parties with stuffed animals
Playing with Lego Duplos, safari animal magnets on a tray
Reading books and toddler exercises that we copy from YouTube

Everyday we get up, watch 30 minutes of cartoons, have breakfast & watch 30 minutes of a mommy show while playing/cleaning up breakfast. Brush teeth, get us both dressed & fix my hair. Make the bed, throw in some laundry then we either read, play outside or go for a jog until nap time. After nap is snack, then chores or errands or Wednesday is storytime, Friday we grocery shop for the week. Then it's lunch, more play & cleaning, nap, another snack, play till its time for me to make dinner, eat, play with daddy, bath/bed. We usually run errands Monday, library Wednesday, grocery store Friday & then we either stay home or visit with friends (rarely) on Tuesdays & Thursday. Pretty boring I guess. I can't wait till she's walking so we can go to the park

We don't do tv and I don't get bored so I guess we are both easily entertained after reading everyone else's responses ha!

It should be noted he is almost two and I let him destroy the kitchen and house if that's what is interesting him to play with spatulas or whatever. I pick up every other night when he is in bed and clean the kitchen when he's in bed. I do not pick up during the day at all.

We don't really have a set schedule - that's part of what I love about being a SAHM! Most days i get up and get dressed, then LO wakes up. We nurse, play and eat breakfast. I get LO dressed and we go out. We have an activity most weekday mornings. Right now we do music, art, nature/hiking, playgroup and sometimes library story time. We'll stop and do any errands after our morning class or we go to the gym. We generally have snacks on the go. Then come home for nap and lunch. Some days we go out for a play date in the afternoon or do another errand. Otherwise we just play outside or do an activity inside. Eat a snack. Then I'll start dinner and LO will play until DH gets home. Then we eat, bathe, story time, and LO goes to bed!

ETA: oh yeah and all that pesky cleaning and laundry thrown in whenever I get a chance!

4 weeks til my due date and our days are super lame! We go to Target at least 2 mornings a week, maybe walk to a couple of stores nearby and then have a pretzel in the snack bar at Target. It's still pretty hot here (90s) so I'm not game for much outside time, though DD would love to go to the park. We watch a little Sesame Street/Daniel Tiger/Thomas around lunchtime, though I try not to keep it on for very long. She naps from 2ish til 4ish and I lay around/sometimes do productive things. Chores I do w/her around: laundry, loading/unloading dishwasher, constantly picking up toys. Eating snacks, reading books, coloring...

Today we...
-Took DS to school
-I drank my coffee while DD played independently and made a few phone calls
-Got DD2 dressed
-washed my sheets
-did potty training with DD
-planted flowers and did some gardening with DD (but we usually try to do some art every day)
-made lunch
-read books
-baked cookies
And we still have to pick DS up, do more laundry, clean the bathrooms, help DS with homework and reading, make dinner and do baths.

LO is only 5 months old so we haven't really got a set routine yet. But we go to the library once per week, try to get out for a walk with the dog most days, and I recently started going to a moms group at church. I was WOH before LO arrived and we also moved while I was pregnant so I don't know many people and although I am glad to be SAH it is a big change! We had our first play date last week. I met another mom at the park. Her LO is 17 months. We walked for a while with our LOs in strollers and then her LO played on the playground and my LO watched attentively! ;)

We don't have any kind of schedule, but we generally go to a park once a day and also another outing, such as errands, story time, music, a walk, etc. I definitely get bored though! I would love to hear about more activities people do.
