I think it's awesome and she loves it. At this age (mine just turned 2) it's all about play and socialization. We moved when she was 2, and I decided to SAH. But I wanted to continue some sort of outside-the-home-care for 2-3 days a week for both of our sakes (good socialization with kids and adults, learning, stimulation, etc for her; time for me to workout, run errands, etc). I was also pregnant with LO2 and knew that LO1 having her own space/place would be good for her.</p> <p>We ended up going with a true preschool for LO1. She goes 3 days a week from 830-330. It's great! She loves it, and it helped keep some consistency when her sister was born. She comes home exhausted on those days. It's just not in the budget with me not working. I'm confident in our ability to prepare him academically for kindergarten. I think pre-k is mostly important for learning social skills. So right now they go to free playgroups. Hopefully that will entertain the oldest until he is preschool age! I do think he would like it now at two. I feel like he has years and years to go to school. But at the same time I know it's important for her to be stimulated in different ways and to learn to be in other environments, plus it will give me good alone time with LO #2. </p> <p>I know some of you mentioned you put LO #1 in school just before LO #2 came...was that super helpful? I'm just afraid LO #1 won't be ready by July...but is it worth trying to do it to ease the first months with LO #2? I think DH wants to try to start her in June/July but I wanted to wait until Sept...I feel like each month does make a difference! </p> <p>But then we are only at the end of Jan...maybe she will grow and develop a lot in 5-6 months? Being potty trained is not a concern at any of these schools. The kids with the SAHP go 3 days a week, while the kids with the working parents go 5 days a week.</p> <p>If I were still at home, we would have begun with a 3s program a few days a week. We decided to pull her out because we weren't really comfortable with the lack of curriculum in place of religious teachings. Once kids turn 3 here, they are eligible for 15 hours/week of preschool , funded by the government, that can be done in a public or private preschool (if it's private, you pay the difference in tuition beyond what the government would have spent on a state run school). As of now, I'm not sure whether or not we'll take that up in September (DD will be 3 in June) or not. I don't want to do the full 15 hours per week as I think that is far too much. I put LO in a 2s program when she was 22 months (only 2 days a week for 90 minutes).
