My friend has helped 5 other women negotiate for our professional salaries. She said the only thing that we ALL were worried about was seeming too "pushy" and in the end, none of that ever was actually how they ended up being perceived. </p> <p>I'm looking to go from a job where I think I have been slightly underpaid - even though I get great raises each year, I still feel like I'm trying to play catch-up! When i got my job 2.5 years ago right out of grad school the amount i asked for seemed like an insane amount to me.... but at every annual review they tell me how underpaid I am (i got a 12%, followed by a 20% raise) so I REALLY should have asked for more upfront. A few days ago, I would have thought that the original offer was amazing - but after some research and review I felt like it was OK to ask for more (and expect something in the middle). I just can't believe that these are the numbers I'm actually talking about. </p> <p>I'm mostly just posting this now to pass the time while I wait to hear about a response. I'm totally freaked out. Any negotiation stories would be appreciated! </p>
