The DoSeum is a wonderful children's museum. The outdoor river feature is very nice. It's very close in proximity to the zoo.

We just did this exact route! We stop in SA often as our base to the surrounding areas. Our favorite restaurants in SA are: Rosario's (south side, very delicious, near a cool new park that I can't think of the name right now), La Gloria (in the ever so hip newly renovated Pearl district off the river walk but not in the old touristy area), La Fogata (closer to the airport, really interesting indoor/outdoor restaurant), La Fonda on Main (delicious, has a cool courtyard), The Fruiteria (good for breakfast or lunch. My kid loves fruit so we like to go there and get her a gigantic fruit plate. I like mango with chile and lime and DH likes their sandwiches).

If you feel like a drive, go 45 mins out to Boerne and eat at Dog and Pony Grill. They have good chicken fried steak but the real hit is the outdoor seating, playground for kids, basketball court--just a fun, low key experience. We drive out for a dip in the river at Guadeloupe State Park and then hit up Boerne on the way back to SA.

As far as things to do, the riverboat is a hit with my toddler but it almost always makes us adults hate life. The botanical garden is a delight. We always look for a yummy paleta stop. Oh, and riding the train at the San Antonio zoo is a favorite of ours. You don't have to go to the zoo to ride the train, it's just a fun little train that rides around the zoo/park grounds.

@bhbee: Thanks, this is helpful! We just plan on driving by the Alamo also but I didn't think of the River Walk. We might try that if it's not too hot!

We took my kids on the river walk boat tour - I thought that was worth it and easy to see a lot without dealing with a stroller on the river walk. I think it was cash only, they have a website. We only spent a few hours in the actual city so otherwise we just drove by the Alamo

We also did seaworld - we made it from open to about 3 when the 2yo was so done. We did several shows, they played the cheapest (always a winner) boardwalk games, we ate and that was about it! Oh also a few of the kid rides in the elmo play area. They liked watching the big rides too. The pet show is inside which could be good to plan for if it's hot (it has a max capacity so you have to line up for it). I brought a cooler bag with water and lots of snacks. If you like splash pads bring stuff for the one in Elmo's play land.

We are going to go through San Antonio on our way home from the coast in TX. We'll probably spend 2 days there.

I already purchased tickets to Sea World but with a 2 year old I doubt we'll spent more than a 1/2 day there.

Any must sees or restaurant recommendations?
