We did an air bnb for our honeymoon, but were there for 7 days. For a short stay I would just do a hotel. We liked Alcatraz and Coit Tower (where a guide let us go up to a higher level alone for a bit and came to give us a quick mini tour that was pretty special). We walked Golden Gate Bridge with a free walking tour which wasn't great because it was hard to hear the guy. Walking it solo or I guess driving it would work. We just used yelp for restaurants and went to some good little sushi and Thai ones and some at pier in a warehouse building. We also did ice cream at Bi-rite creamery because it was a popular spot. I actually quite enjoyed the cable car museum and we rode those around to hook up to public transit. I think you can get 3 day multiuse cards if you don't have a vehicle. We did the Academy of Sciences and browsed golden gate park as mentioned above as well. Muir woods was my favourite spot we went to!

I'd definitely skip the winery aspect this time because your trip is limited time. We went to napa for two days and stayed at a b&b there.

Alcatraz is great...we live close to SF and still go on the tour every once in awhile. The Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park is also definitely worth it. North Beach has great Italian restaurants. I'll try to think of more suggestions...let me know if you have specific questions!

I went a few years ago. We only stayed 2 days in the city because we just aren't big city people. I loved going to Alcatraz. I think it was my favorite part of the trip. I also really enjoyed Muir Woods National Monument. Plus, if you go there, you drive over the Golden Gate Bridge, so you can see that easily on that outing. Just go early in the morning before it gets too busy.

@youboots: We haven't decided where we're staying yet! I have a ton of Marriott points so I was thinking one of the Marriotts close to Union Square.

Thanks for the recommendations! We're already planning to do a wine country trip a few years in the future, so we may save that for another time.

Yay! I love SF. Do you know where you are staying? We stayed at an Air BnB in the Inner Richmand in November for 5 nights and love the neighborhood.

MOMA just reopened- it's been closed for years. Alcatraz is really cool but you need tickets in advance and it's a time commitment- but if you are into history it's a unique experience. We have been to Alfred's a couple times- it's an old school steakhouse. Getting around can be really tough so you have to be stratgic in planning your days. SPQR is a famous restaurant that we enjoyed. Grabbing a burger at In N Out at fishermans wharf is fun if you don't have them at home. We really like the Cow Hollow neighborhood for shopping- also Hayes valley is really fun to poke around in.

I've been to Napa and Sonoma on separate trips. Unless you are a huge fan of wine I'd skip it since you will be there for such a short time. I live in wine country though and I prefer the experience in my area.

DH and I are traveling to SF for a long weekend in a couple months and wanted some advice! We will be there essentially three full days plus a morning before our flight back. Two questions:

1.	Should we squeeze in a day in Napa/Sonoma for winery tours? I’m not sure if two full days in SF is long enough.
2.	Recommendations on restaurants/things to do? There are so many restaurants that sound good and I’m overwhelmed!
