We have the little tikes turtle, but my daughter is pretty young still. It might be too small for you, but I love it so far. It's durable and I love having the top.

We have one of the plastic ones that is shaped like a crab (there are also turtles). The top stays on tightly, though some small insects can get it. We didn't try putting in cinnamon. The thing that I don't like about it is that it's fairly small. It was really great until my son was 3-ish, but he kind of stopped using it after that partly because of the size.

I can't find what sandbox we got but it was made of wood and the top folds up into a bench on each side for the kids to sit on while they play. It didn't have a bottom to it so we just put down plastic so that nothing could grow up from the bottom or burrow in from underneath. We have lots of rabbits and squirrels in our yard and never had a problem with them in the sandbox. I had meant to put cinnamon in the sand like @Bluemasonjar: mentioned but totally spaced. Honestly, we haven't had a problem. We've had it outside for almost 2 years now. We're about to get a bunch of landscaping done and will need to decide whether to get rid of it or move it somewhere. Not sure if the kids will want to keep playing with it or not. If they do, we'll get new sand and will do the cinnamon.

We have a cozy coupe sandbox because I wanted something plastic with a top that was easily moveable. The top did not stay on tightly so we had to put bungee cords which was annoying. So I would not recommend it. BUT we put cinnamon in the sand and it did keep it pest free and also smelled delightful.
