The night before, we would take our stocking and put it in our designated spot. When we woke up Christmas morning, Santa had everything in our spot. It was so cool to see it all out. My mom had a rule that we could only ask Santa for 3 things because there was limited room in the sleigh, but we always got several little things from Santa in addition to what we asked for. It was a little strange how the elves left the empty boxes with Toys R Us stickers in the garage, but when I was little, I figured elves just made things as realistic as possible. </p> <p>I imagine that we'll continue that tradition with our own family. I'll probably scale the gifts back from what my mom did though. Our big gifts were from Santa, and they were never wrapped (bikes, dollhouse, etc.). Then, my mom wrapped everything else--half was marked from Santa, half marked from them. They went nuts with Christmas though. </p> <p>Sadie is only getting two things from Santa: a kitchen and dishes. They'll be unwrapped with bows. Growing up most years was wrapped. The stockings are by the fireplace, so you know what is from Santa. </p> <p>This year I'm going to unpackage everything that goes into DS's stocking. DH always had unwrapped gifts and I always had wrapped. I think they should be wrapped because the biggest gift always came from Santa and it's always the last one you open. If it's just laying out on the floor in the morning, then the rest of the gifts are a let down I think.
