I have always lived 5-25 minutes from Lake Michigan, including 4 years at Hope College in Holland, which is right by Saugatuck.</p> <p>I'm not sure where you are from, have you done much beach-going with the toddler? We go to Lake Michigan at least once a week all summer, so have it down to an art--happy to share if you need an advice with that. You guys will have a ball! I'd recommend hitting up the beach early in the morning and maybe heading back for a bath and a late nap. Tunnel Park is super fun but you won't go wrong with any beaches on Lake Michigan. Captain Sundae is an iconic ice cream store to the area. The Windmill Restaurant in downtown Holland is super popular but do not go there on a weekend morning.</p> <p>Let me know if you have any other questions, happy to help! I'm excited for you!</p> <p>Windmill Island would be fun to check out after nap, then you could do an early dinner (so no wait with the little) in downtown Holland. I recommend New Holland Pub and Hops at 84 East for dinner. For an old school candy store, check out The Peanut Store. The Bridge is also a really cool store downtown Holland, it has fair-trade gifts and crafts.
