The hotel was nice, historic, downtown and affordable. It's a historic hotel (non chain) downtown and, as the name suggests, right on the river. We were kid-free at the time we stayed, but I know there were families there while we were. A quick look at their website shows they have family packages and the like, so it looks like they'd be happy to have little ones. It was a historic hotel, not a chain. It was very nice. I'm not sure about staying with children though, since we were single at the time. We've stayed both at hotels and rented houses in Savannah, but I love renting homes. Also, you could always choose to stay in Tybee if you're interested in the beach, and it's only about a 10 minute drive to downtown. Neither DH nor myself have ever been here. We want to stay somewhere close to downtown, preferably not a chain hotel. All of the B&amp;BS we've seen don't allot children under certain ages. Our children are 8 and will be 18 mos this summer. Any good recommendations on kid friendly lodging? </p>
