I kept most of th bigger stuff (crib, pack n play, jumperoo). I'm glad I kept all that stuff. I regret keeping things like bottles, nipples, feeding supplies- a lot of it looked really old and worn out (4 year age gap) so I tossed it out and bought new.

I would only save the bigger ticket items

We saved a lot of it but the only big space item we had was our swing. We live/lived in small apartments so everything else had to be able to fit in closets.

Will future LO have their own room? We store all of our stuff for future LO's in the bedroom that would become theie room. It is more out of the way than thw garage or basement.

We have a 2 year 9 month age gap and I’m so glad I kept everything. It definitely took up a lot of space but it was nice having 95% of what we needed ready to go. I was so anxious to find out the sex, because we had stacks of boxes of boy clothes piled in the baby’s room. As it turned out we had a girl born in a different season, so most of that had to go.

We saved our gear and started TTC when our son was almost two. We have been dealing with infertility, including two miscarriages, for over a year and a half. I am so close to just throwing everything out.

We just had our first baby in April and for the big ticket items we purchased gender neutral things. We also did a TON of research and bought high quality items. We plan to use everything again when we decide on baby #2.

I’m saving the stuff I really liked and got some use out or I think should have for a baby even if LO didn’t really use it. Selling things I know we aren’t going to use has been a lot of fun. In a way I am already curating Baby #2 stuff.

We saved most of everything and have a 2.5 year age gap. We lived in a small apartment so tried to be as minimal as possible from the onset. The one big item we did not have was a swing. I am super glad I do not have to worry about buying everything all over again.

The only things we threw out and are buying again are bottles, pacifiers, pump parts, old silverware.

The one thing that ended up being sort of a bust was cloths. Our first was a boy and second is a girl. While I was able to save a lot of cloths... particularly small sizes, I did end up giving a lot away ultimately.

We have talked about having a 3rd and it will be a 3 year difference at the very least and we don't know if it will be natural or adoption or foster-adopt (so it may not be a baby). We also just moved so we had to slash through a lot of things in the move.

We got rid of:
- Anything that goes in the mouth or has bodily fluids up in it, like teethers, mesh feeders, pump parts, chewed up loveys or toys, and baby bottles. We threw out most baby feeding spoons except the ones I still use for stuff now. I think we got rid of the bottle warmer and sanitizer too. I kept the drying rack bc I still use it for water bottles and what not!

- Play gym, bouncer, baby tub, RNP, and infant baby toys except ones I know are super useful, hard to find, and/or discontinued. Most baby gear is cheap to replace, someone is going to want to buy you a gift, and they take up SO MUCH ROOM. I hateee baby toysssss.

- Most baby linens, towels, washcloths, and blankets except ones I'm sentimentally attached to.

- Most maternity stuff except the stuff I totally relied on through both pregnancies, like essential pieces, expensive nursing tanks, favorite shirts, etc.

- Baby clothes I was pretty ruthless about. I kept the pieces that I was sentimental about or were just super nice. I also kept ones that I knew were workhorses (I'm looking at you Carters zip-up sleepers!) Otherwise, I donated clothes or gave them away to people I knew were having little boys. I kept any good quality shoes that were in decent shape, since they wear them for such a short amount of time.
- We kept all carseats and strollers. We kept our highchair and travel high chair and booster chairs too.

I'm TRYING to get rid of the bassinet, jumparoo, a bunch of baby soft books and all this other stuff, Its not easy trying to just get rid of it and I don't want to throw it away, so there's still a fair amount in my garage.

Definitely yes. We had almost an exact 3 year age gap (LO was born 2 weeks before my older turned 3)... I saved everything. And like someone mentioned above, I was pregnant with #2 a few months after LO turned 2, so it feels closer.

I did end up getting a new breast pump. LO wouldn't use the same bottles, so I had to buy new ones anyway. Reused the baby tub, rock n play, pack n play, crib, changing table, rocking chair, toys, etc etc etc... almost everything actually :)

Can you lend it to a friend who will give it back when you need it? One of my friends has minimal storage space and lent me a ton of gear and then I stored it until she had her next baby. I had another shortly after her and once I'm done I'll sell it for her. Pretty good deal for both of us!

Otherwise I vote you save the stuff you really liked but ditch the stuff you were iffy on. You won't use it the second time either!

@DesertDreams88: Working on my first so no great experience, but I was thinking about it, and if you have another, by the time you're actually done using it this time and when you're pregnant and starting to shop again it will probably only be like two years.

We're having a 3 year age gap and saved everything (plus my sister gave us their swing after their last kid so we've been holding onto that too). We do have room for stuff in our basement. I am so glad that I don't have to worry about buying new stuff and am also not wasting my time obsessing over the perfect things to buy. I would assume your infant car seat would be expired by the time you had LO3 but I'd prob still save it to exchange in when Target/BRU has their trade-in programs. Selling stuff/rebuying takes time that I could be spent doing other things :)

ETA: I am going to get rid of baby clothes that aren't in great condition as I organize for LO2. I know now that we have an excessive amount! I am pretty sure we are done with 2 so I do plan to get rid of a lot after this baby and it will be fine to rebuy if we do end up having another.

I saved clothes and toys that I loved and that we're in good condition and big stuff that was durable enough to last through 2 kids. I sold several things that weren't my favorite and that I could get a high percentage back of what I paid, and donated some. I also got a TON of hand me downs for my second from Buy Nothing!

I sold a few things I knew I would want to upgrade, kept a few that I was quite happy with and lent out some other stuff. I purged 1/2 of all clothes before packing them away, as I knew I would want some new stuff. LO3 (and our last baby) is going to be here in 5 weeks and we are already looking forward to getting rid of it all LOL.

We stored it. We actually have zero space and rented a storage unit (not really exclusively for baby stuff, Christmas decor, some small furniture items, our car roof rack live there) but I'm sure financially it's a loss. My husband calls it mental accounting. Haha
But I'm happy I've kept it. I feel like I researched SO much with #1, and feel confident all of the purchases were great ones. And some were $$$. I've loaned out a lot. Be sure to break down as much as you can, TAPE securely the baggies of related screws and accessories to each item, and sort by size or length into appropriate bins before you store. If clothing Id do vacuum bags. We are having a boy, so I have a lot of girl stuff I'm going to sell or pass on.
I'll only have a purchase a few things...new stroller...a few small size boy outfits, maybe a new change pad...that's it really. Kinda awesome.

We saved everything for a targeted 3-yr age gap (ended up with a 2y10mo age gap) and I never considered otherwise. I did keep my pump and bottles in a storage bin in our master closet instead of the hot attic so I didn't have any worries about plastic breaking down. The only things I got rid of and replaced were bottle nipples and pump valves/membranes, plus some bibs that got gross from use. (Neither of my kids have taken pacifiers but same logic applies.)

Save it! Three years isn't that big of a gap. Our girls are three years apart, and it's been nice to just pull out the old stuff. I totally understand wanting to get rid of it, but it seems kind of wasteful. We're undecided on a third, but will keep everything until we know for sure that we're done.

We were shooting for a 3-year gap and living in a small townhouse, so we made these decisions case-by-case:
-Cosleeper: I managed to loan it to a series of successive friends during the last 2.5 years so it's only just now returning to us. Score.
-Swing: same as the cosleeper
-PnP/crib: kept
-bouncer: loaned it for a while, stored it since then
-infant car seat: was on loan in the first place so we returned it, then borrowed another one for baby #2 (both from trusted friends)
-stroller: we're still using our first-and-only stroller (a Baby Jogger City Versa) all the time with DD, so obviously still have it. For #2, I was lucky to be gifted a Baby Jogger double stroller by a friend so going to use that when pushing both kids together.
-Bottles: I gave away some (we had millions) but kept a base supply which I will reuse.
-Clothes: loaned out some, kept most. Baby #2 is a different sex than #1 so I have been bombarded with secondhand boy clothes, no worries on that front.
-Baby tub: gave away, easily got another one for free this time
-Bottle warmer: gave away, easily got another one for free
-Wipes warmer: gave away, easily got another one for free
-Jumparoo: was on loan, I returned it and may skip it this time but a friend did offer to loan me hers anyway
-Swaddles: loaned out for a while, stored since then

@misolee: our stroller is SO beat up, but i think i'm just gonna replace the wheels (it's a city select) and then when DD2 is too big for it, get rid of it and get a simple single.

There’s a 3.75 year age gap between my kiddos and I saved the stuff. But let me tell you, I’m excited for when LO gets old enough that I can get rid of stuff!

We saved the things that DD1 used/loved (all clothes, car seat, strollers, PNP) and sold things like the bouncer or exersaucer.

My first and 3rd child will have a 5 year gap and we're basically gonna use the same things. Except the infant car seat bc it's expired after 5 years.

I do want a new stroller bc after five years, it's pretty worn but we'll see
