We saved everything and are reusing everything. This LO got a couple new outfits but it was so much easier and cheaper just throwing things in the wash then trying to buy a new wardrobe. My first was a summer baby and second is a late fall baby so a lot of stuff we just throw a sweater over. We would have reused a lot even if #2 was a boy (#1 is a girl).

I kept all N's clothes! I just couldn't part with them (even though SIL had a boy in July). This time around we are having another boy so I am glad I kept everything. Most of my newborn stuff was gender neutral. SIL even gave me some more baby boy stuff after we found out we were expecting another boy....

I think I must be the exception - I just ditched a lot of LOs stuff! In fairness, he grew at a pretty steady rate so most of his things were pretty worn by the time he grew out of them. I did keep one of his teeny shirts though and swatches from some of his first little things. Also storage was at a premium for us so that is probably part of it!

@Cchoi4: just FYI you are finding yellowed stains after they are packed away, soak those clothes in oxy clean for several hours, then wash as usual. It will get rid of almost all the yellow stains! I had a bunch of had me downs like that- I think formula stains extra bad bc if the iron, but oxy clean took it right out!

At first I gave stuff away but now I'm storing it. If lo2 ends up being a boy I'll just donate it or give it away. If we get to probably about a year from now not pregnant again (start ttc probably between March and May) or if ttc gets pushed back again for some reason or other I'll probably get rid of all or most of it then.

I saved almost all of my older son's clothes for our new baby, which turned out to be the same gender. What I've found is that YDS is able to wear maybe 50% of the clothes from his older brother due to either sizing is off, season is off or just plain the clothes look really worn or has a stain I did not see earlier (i.e. white onesies where after they have been washed and packed way for a bit miraculously have yellow stains).

So yes, I did save almost all the clothes, but once I got a feel for what YDS would be wearing, I quickly started packing up the clothes that I knew he wouldn't wear and donated them.

(FYI - we are maxed out at 2 kids, so that is the reason for donating)

I saved it all pretty much and even though number 2 was born in a different season, he grew so much faster that he is "catching up". Even though I'm sick of looking at some stuff, we'll save it for a future kid as well.

I'm saving everything for now. I received a bunch of hand me downs from my nephews (luckily for me both were team green so they both had lots of gender neutral stuff early on that I use for my daughter). So, I'll save and pass on the favor if one of my sisters has a girl or if I can reuse for number two. Most stuff so far really isn't that seasonal anyway. You can wear little cotton outfits year round.

We are considering renting a small storage unit anyway, and if we don't, will probably bring it to my parents basement until we have a second.

I saved everything, but I had another girl and I am honestly so sick of the clothes from #1 that I donated most of them and bought #2 new clothes. The seasons are also a bit off.

But I would save the majority of the clothes you have (if you have space) because you never know. The things that I reused the most were swaddles, sleep sacks, PJs, bibs, burp cloths, and blankets.

I saved everything then once I found out Olive was a girl, gave pretty much everything away other than newborn stuff and some gender neutral things (most of his stuff was very boy).

I would just keep the things that your second LO is likely to wear, because you will probably get more clothing gifts, you'll still buy more even if you save clothes.

If you have the space save it sure.... but if not, I would get rid of most of it.

@Pepper: if you have storage space, saving his things is very logical. My baby girl is 6 m and I am saving all her items in plastic tubs for #2. I would hate to re-buy everything again if the next one is a girl too. Some things she wore only once or never got to because we were gifted so many 0-3 and 3-6 months items.

I plan on saving everything until we know the sex of #2. A lot of DS's onesies are unisex and since his pjs are boy/neutral, they could easily be okay for a girl if we have a girl next.

LO has a lot of clothes... people are always buying him outfits, and I have a hard time saying no to things that are on sale! There is a resale shop in my area that I'm taking some things to, but I'm noticing I have a hard time letting go of his old outfits. I keep telling myself I need to save them for our next kid, in case it's a boy.

So, if you have 2 or more kids, did you use a lot of the clothes from the first kid? Am I justified in keeping all of his old stuff? Or is it silly to keep everything because the seasons/gender/sizes were so off?
