So I would encourage instead of keeping ALL Lego pieces, for example, pick some of the favorite mini figures and most versatile/clean/sturdy bricks and pieces and keep one tub for the future. Same goes for the dinosaurs. A few of the ones in best condition are going to feel more special than a giant collection of mismatched ones! I definitely plan on keeping some of our wooden trains and tracks. We have a lot of Thomas trains before they changed and got cheap/poorly made. They get a ton of play with my kids and I think would stand the test of time. I'd say the fun stuff that they save though were our old dollhouse with accessories, wooden blocks, and the play kitchen with accessories. The play kitchen is big, but they had the room and my dad actually made it out of wood for us. It's great quality and sentimental.</p> <p>I'd love to save my daughter's Little People, but I'm not sure we'll have the space. My kids love playing with it when we go to visit. They also kept our giant collection of beanie babies (in that 90s hope that one day they'd be worth something - ha). My girls LOVE playing with those so much. </p> <p>So I'd say if you have space, I'd keep the stuff you're thinking of! I am handing down everything to my nephew/niece, the rest is going to buy nothing other parents.... My parents kept some toys and we can see that the wood toys were way better quality back then than now. So I would keep wood stuff. Legos is a good idea. Some of the sets are already discontinued so if you like a set, keep it. But then I started to think that maybe I wanted to keep some of them for if I happen to have grandkids in the future. My mom kept toys from when we were little and it is always fun to see my kids, nieces and nephews continue to play with them. Not a ton but we do have storage space. </p> <p>Things that I'm thinking:</p> <p>Legos<br /> Magnatiles<br /> Animals from Terra by Battat (my kids were obsessed with these)<br /> Maybe some of their dinosaurs that aren't battery powered</p> <p>Thinking about more classic toys. Wondering if I'm crazy or just giving into hoarding tendencies? Anyone else? </p>
