@travellingbee: the blood panels are notoriously inaccurate. The important thing to know is how he reacts. If he doesn't react, then there is no reason to stop eating. My DS is allergic to eggs (and milk and wheat) per his latest test but he eats all those things frequently without issue. Something to keep an eye on though, I would say. Allergies can develop at any time for anyone.

Per my blood test I have an egg allergy. But I have no negative reaction. My Dad has an allergy and breaks out in hives. I eat eggs almost daily.

@MrsSRS: glad he grew out of them. I think DS has mostly outgrown the MSPI. Yay!

@Pollywog: ok so if he hasn't had obvious symptoms it's ok to keep letting him eat them?

The blood panels are not as accurate. My sister had been allergic to tree nuts her whole life, had a severe egg allergy as a kid she grew out of, and somewhere as a child had a blood panel that said she was also allergic to peanuts and shellfish.

Went her whole life avoiding all of those. Had a change of insurance in college that required a skin prick test for a new epi pen prescription, and found out she wasn't allergic to shellfish or peanuts, only tree nuts. Ate/eats both with no issues now.

Mspi mom with gluten and egg allergies here. I was told the blood panel isn't perfect. It's a positive test plus symptoms that causes the allergy. If he's symptom free, then keep going. Just keep an eye on it.

We declined the blood test because his symptoms told us to avoid the food, but I spent tons of time researching OT.

My son had mspi and an egg white allergy. Eventually he outgrew both. He seemed fine with baked goods that had eggs in them and I could separate out yolks and cook them which he ate almost daily. Just no scrambled eggs or omelets or quiche, etc. or he would get hives.

DS2 was recently allergy tested because he was MSPI fairly severely and we were going to start trying to intro a little dairy. Ped wanted to do a blood panel first to make sure it was only MSPI and not a true allergy. Well turns out he isn't allergic to dairy but the nurse said he has a very mild allergy to egg whites. I was shocked because he has already eaten egg whites several times with no reaction! She said, "ok well then it's probably not a big deal so don't worry about it." But now I'm nervous to give him eggs again. Any allergy mom's who can help clarify what this means and how to interpret this news?

ETA sorry about all the typos! iPhone! Corrected now, LOL
