@cnidaria: I knew it was coming and her night sessions have always been about me and her, no phone no tv, just nursing in semi darkness so it was nice

@snarkybiochemist: Happy growing baby is key! You've done great :) I started having supply issues and my daughter very suddenly self-weaned just before 9 months. I definitely was not expecting my very last nursing session to be a quick one in the passenger seat of a car... but such it was. I was quite emotional about it at the time, but in retrospect, it was actually kind of nice not to have to stress about figuring out how to wean her, so that was my silver lining :)

Oh man, I'm so sorry. It makes me absolutely heartbroken to think of the end of breastfeeding my boy and he's definitely weaning.

hang in there, mama.

You did so great! And you never know, she could totally grow out of it and might want to comfort nurse here and there.

@SugarMaple: she was always happy but ate frequently when she was just breastfeeding.
@jhd: thanks
@Shantuck: yea for the past week or so I could usually get her to at least try to breastfeed first in the middle of the night but it usually didn't last long and then she wanted a bottle and I was unsure of how much she needed. I am looking forward to having my body back eventually but while I'm still trying to pump (and who knows how long that will last) its still not totally mine

I had the same thing happen with my daughter around that age. I could get her to take a morning feed sometimes but usually she just wanted the bottle (never experienced hat with her older brother - he loved to breastfeed).. She’s 16 months now and breastfeeding is a distant memory but I do remember feeling sad to end it. However, I for one, love having my body back.

4 months is great! I agree, a fed baby is best. E will continue to do great (and it sounds like may be happier).
I was worried about being sad when I stopped nursing my first baby at 6 months, and honestly, after a day or two did not miss it at all. AT. ALL.

@snarkybiochemist: a fed baby is always best! But I totally get it. Nursing is so emotional. I was upset for days when I weaned my daughter. Take care of yourself and make sure to get extra snuggles

After 4 months of E switching easily btwn breast and bottle she is showing a bottle preference or is in the middle of a nursing strike (its hard to tell). I would like her to still get some breastmilk (her diet will never be all since I don't produce enough) so for now I am going to pump for as long as I can and continue to supplement with formula. Its sad to think that this morning at 4am might have been the last time she breastfed. This is making me emotional but I am trying to remind myself that a) she is still getting some breast milk and b) now my husband can help more with feeding. I also need to remind myself that a happy growing baby is more important than how she gets her food and since she was screaming when I tried to force her to latch and then latching on and off repeatedly she was not happy and definitely not getting enough to grow. With pumping she might even get more breast milk and at least I will know exactly what she is getting,
Just needed to put this out in the universe since you all are some of the only people who will understand all of the emotions surrounding breastfeeding, pumping, and making sure you are doing right by your kid and yourself.
