@MamaBehr: I don't remember the rash peeling. It disappeared pretty quickly after he started antibiotics!

@mrbee: he had high fevers (untreated he would be up to 104 easy) from Thursday to Sunday and the rash showed up tuesday. He has been eating significantly less, and almost nothing during the fever. All he wanted was milk. He is too young to complain of headaches, but they could have been there. Do the rash end up peeling after awhile? The biggest rash on his face looks like it is about to start peeling like a sunburn would.

@MamaBehr: My son had scarlet fever! He had very high fevers and headaches, and eventually a rash on his face and torso. Plus his throat really hurt and he had trouble eating much for a while. Is your LO able to eat?

I caught the scarlet fever from my son and got all the same symptoms, except for the rash. It was brutal and gave me a new level of empathy for what he went through! It was way harder than the flu I came down with a month or so later.

@MamaBehr: Poor guy :( No experience but maybe you could ask the ped to test him for it? I also think Charlie recently had it so hopefully Mr or Mrs Bee will weigh in. Hope he feels better soon!

My DD didn't actually have this, but she was tested for it because her rash resembled the scarlet fever rash. Our ped said a rough, sandpaper texture to the rash is scarlet fever's trademark. Also, it tends to be worse in armpits and groin. I hope your LOs are feeling better soon!

Has anyone's LO had Scarlet Fever before? Or do you know someone who has?

DS#2, aged 15 months, was diagnosed with a strep, double ear infection, and a possible allergy to amoxicillin last night at urgent car. He has a rash on his face, torso, bottom of his feet, palms of his hand. The nurse practitioner at the pediatrician's thought he had hand foot mouth, but the rash on his face isn't that bad (we were there for DS#1 so she didn't really look at DS#2). So my parents (oh my gosh I'm long winded) said maybe scarlet fever. Well, scarlet fever is in the strep family and his face looks more like scarlet fever..... So, has anyone had this?
