@blackbird: Don't worry too much. I'm very prone to sciatica and it still hasn't been constant for me. I had a lot of pain in the beginning but once i got the body pillow it felt a lot better. Now that I am better about stretching it hurts even less. It still hurts if I'm on my feet all day but it is manageable.

10 weeks =\

I notice it most when I walk. And specifically when my left foot is behind my right and I'm moving forward. it's that push motion that seems to get it with every step. So it's definitely not constant....

@blackbird: how far along are you? I started getting sciatic pain in the first trimester (toward the end). Around 14-16 weeks it really kicked in and stayed. I just remember driving home from work with my heated seat on in my car no matter how warm it was!

Sounds like sciatic nerve. I had a PT friend show me some stretches. She also mentioned that because ligaments are loosening in preparation for labor, sometimes things act like sciatic nerve problems, but they really aren't.

Definitely sounds like sciatic nerve. For me the only thing that really helped was walking (a lot). Any extended time sitting or lying down and it started acting up.

It just feels so early to be feeling it! And today's not really bad but yesterday it was unpleasant. I'll do some research on the Bowen Technique, stretches, and I'll do some foam rolling. I do find that if i lean against a table or a ledge and let it dig into my butt, basically, it seems to help! And I'm totally OK with getting massages, too :) Thanks! I'll be asking my doctor about it next week when I go in.

I'm so glad to read this and that I'm not the only one feeling pain/pinching around the butt area. It's only on my left side and sometimes it gets so bad I can't stand up. Good advice on looking up stretches on youtube.. doing that right now!

Sounds like sciatic nerve but my pain is squarely in the center of my butt cheek - not super close to my tailbone. Sleeping with a pillow between my knees has helped a lot and so has stretching and foam rolling my IT band. I didn't think it would work but it really has. You can google the stretches if you're interested.

I have had major issues with sciatica before I got pregnant and the pregnancy has only aggravated it. Now that I am about to pop, the last weeks have given me excruciating back pain...as in I can't get out of my car or walk very well...put on pants and even getting off the toliet is hard! ugh.

getting massages has helped. also, i googled sciatic nerve stretches and on youtube watched some and have found some stretched that have temporarily helped alleviate some pain!

I went to see a Bowen Therapy practitioner when my sciatic nerve was bothering me during pregnancy and it was amazing. (I'd had it done previously too.) I didn't have any more problems with it after having the treatment.
I also used the Miracle Ball Method for Pregnancy earlier on. It was also helpful, but not as much as the Bowen.

I had issues with my sciatic, and went to the chiro a few times. Didn't notice much of a difference, but he did encourage me to do stretches that target that area. And my OB said the pain was probably also caused by how the baby was sitting in the uterus.

I've noticed an uncomfortable pinching near my tailbone lately, on both sides. It's not painful, but is enough for me to take notice. And it stays in the butt region, so it's not shooting into my back or legs. Is this my sciatic nerve, more than likely? Is there something to help keep this from becoming a painful nuisance, ie chiropractic care? I'm very active and haven't noticed it while working out, but it's been popping up lately.
