we have schedule issues because my lo doesn't wake up the same time every day. I'm trying to get her to sleep later ... since the time change, so I let her sleep in. Which could be anywhere from 630-8. So nap time is always different. I always figure it's about 2 hours after she wakes up. She tells me when she's ready by getting fussy!

@artbee: charlie has always been an excellent napper... post nap training that is! and we can always get him to nap in his stroller if he doesn't nap.

i think we'll be a little more lax as charlie gets to be your son's age since he'll probably drop his nap (the horror!).

@ecogirl: DS is 3 1/2. He had a nap schedule when he was little, but now it just seems to be that whatever happens during the day happens!

@rosiegirl how old is your baby? I always said we would keep a strict schedule but it went out the window. Now that he's almost 3 its easier and especially because he has lots of playdates so his day is pretty scheduled.

i wasn't a sahm mom but we've always been very strict with charlie's schedule. it was just much easier for us if we knew that he'd always nap at a certain time and go to bed at a certain time. we need our break (when he naps), and our work time (after he goes to bed).

When I was a SAHM we had very, very, VERY set schedule. I'm such a control freak that I needed a set schedule to survive. Unfortunately, kids change all the time so I'd get unbelievably stressed when he woke up early from his nap or wasn't hungry at the feeding time. I finally learned how to compromise with him though: we'd have a set schedule, but it would pretty much change every week. Once I accepted that, things were much better.

I have tried and tried for 3 years now to set a schedule, and it always fails miserably. We do have a routine, but it can vary by about an hour in either direction. And not every day is the same, so that usually throws off whatever success I've made.

We aren't. My lo is younger, 4 months, so it's more about making sure she gets her naps in and eats every few hours. But sometimes she wants to nap earlier or later than normal, and I don't care. As long as she naps and is happy.

In between we don't do set things either. Sometimes we just play, sometimes I clean, it have a random project, or well go out to lunch. We're very flexible.

Since being a SAHM, it seems that we don't really have a "set" schedule. We do do certain things everyday, but times and such is just kind of up in the air. Here is a little break down of our day:

Get up and eat breakfast while watching cartoon
Play
Shower, get dressed and ready for the day
Do a project
Eat
Play (me clean the house)
Run any errands we might have
Pick up the house
DH comes home
Eat dinner
Play
Wind down for bedtime
Sleep!

Our schedule changes a lot though. Sometimes we will watch cartoons a little longer, or have no errands to run, or so many that we have to leave extra early. We aren't on a set time schedule though. Are you?
