Personally I wouldn't do it the day after Thanksgiving because that is not indicative of my normal diet. Also, do you have to make an appointment? I know it makes it easier and I usually do, but you can always walk in at my LabCorp.

To be safe I would avoid the day after Thanksgiving. I also failed my one hour but passed the three hour test. It's not like you eat a huge feast typically and it could skew your results, causing you a huge hassle unnecessarily for the duration of your pregnancy. That being said, don't eat before the test, avoid sugars and carbs the day before and try to take it first thing in the morning so you can eat ASAP!

I took the 2 hour, and my dr never gave me any direction as far as eating in the days prior to it. She just said I had to fast after midnight. But even just the 2 hour was such a PITA to sit there for ages at LabCorp, that I agree with a lot of others that it's maybe not a great idea just in case Thanksgiving eating does affect something....That's a lot of time to invest and I wouldn't want you to take a chance that it would all be a waste!

@photojane: LOL hilarious. Mmm... hot fudge sundae. Yeah, my new normal isn't that far off from Thanksgiving either! I can just eat less in one sitting than before.

well, i hope you got the appointment this friday! if not, i honestly don't see a problem with doing it the day after thanksgiving. i ate completely normal the day before my test, which is probably like everyone else's thanksgiving. haha :) i had a hot fudge sundae, burger, mashed potatoes, etc. the day before my test. my doctor said not to change the way i ate because that could affect the test.

eeeh, I wouldn't want to have my 3 hour test the day after Thanksgiving either. I scheduled mine for FIRST thing in the morning (like 7:30am) so that I was just a little late for work.

@highwire: That's true, and I know she understands. I just feel guilty lol. I found a different lab just a few miles from my house that actually has appointments this Friday, so I might do that instead, with the bonus that the results should be in by the time I see my doctor on Tuesday so there's minimal waiting.

@Mrsbells: No, unfortunately my doctor's appointment is at 9:45 and the lab doesn't have an appointment until 7 a.m. so I wouldn't make it in time.

I think it depends. If you eat earlier in the day, and don't eat a big meal later, you should be fine for the glucose test on Friday. (a good excuse to start with pie?) My family eats around 1 or 2 and we just graze after that. Usually I am too full to eat much later in the day. But if you eat later or have a full second meal, maybe you want to do it a different day.

Since Thanksgiving is such a unique day in terms of eating, I wouldn't want to schedule a test the day after (nor would I want to alter my eating habits on Thanksgiving!!) I'd do Wednesday.

The doctor appointments just keep ramping up from here. I had FOUR last week (iron infusion, chiropractor, dentist, OB appt) and my boss was totally cool with it. It is just part of working and pregnancy I think.

I failed my one-hour glucose test so I have to take the three-hour. My closest Labcorp has three appointments next week available: one on Tuesday when I already have a dr's appointment, one on Wednesday, and one on Friday. I feel really bad taking three hours off work the day before Thanksgiving when I will have already taken two hours off the day before for my doctor's appointment (I start work at 9, the appt isn't until 9:45 then there's commuting) so I thought hey, Friday would be perfect because I'm already off.

Is it completely insane and ill-advised to schedule my three-hour glucose test for the day after Thanksgiving? I don't want the results to be skewed because I ate too much the day before. I don't go crazy or anything, but there's pie and potatoes and rolls and cranberry sauce and all that good stuff. Will that skew my results? Should I just suck it up and do Wednesday and hope work doesn't hate me?
