@Mrs. Toad: Thanks for your reply! We definitely would plan on going as soon as they open.

I did see that they have a swim-up bar that we will definitely be checking out

The lines are only for the bigger rides and I agree that we never had much of a wait - I think 45 minutes for a brand new bigger ride. Boogie boarding usually has a long wait as well.

We've always gone right when it opened and never had a problem finding a table, often in the shade. You can bring coolers, food, and drinks, just no glass (and I think no alcohol). As long as the stuff at your table is only towels, sunscreen, shoes, and food, no one has ever messed with it. (In other words, not worth stealing).

I haven't been with kids yet.

@Mrs. Pickle: Thanks, this is helpful! We would be going to the one in Galveston so I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it.

The cabanas are $200 a day for up to 8 people so I think that would be a good option. It would be nice to have a shady spot to relax, especially with my 2 year old.

I've been to two locations, never with kids though. I've been to the original and the one in Galveston. I've been to the one in Galveston several times and really enjoy it. The longest lines are for the bigger, more thrilling slides. I can't remember waiting more than a half hour for something though. I've never had an issue getting a table but have always gone on a weekday. I remember there being a nice splash pad area. They also have some smaller water slides and a lazy river that's indoors, which I really like. You need cash to rent a locker and you'll get it back at the end of the day when you return the key. I don't know how much cabanas are, but I'd consider it if I was going with a big party.

We are going to the Texas coast with my husband's family in 2 weeks and Schlitterbahn isn't too far away from where we're staying.
If you've been, how was it? Were there really long lines to get in? Was it difficult to find chairs?
We also thought about renting a cabana (there will be 5 adults and 2 kids (ages 11 and 2). Was it worth the $$?

All experiences/opinions welcome!
