He had no idea why they were hiding and being quiet. I have practiced these drills as a classroom teacher with my high school students and even the drills scare me (and many students). That school is the high school my kids will go to. I'm somewhat comforted by the fact that the situation went as well as one of those situations can. Someone saw something and said something, the classroom was cleared, no one died. </p> <p>But still... I'm so disheartened. The fact that this situation went so well is a testament to the fact that this shit happens so often that there are procedures. Procedures that are rehearsed enough to have been executed so well. Today at 5:30am we receive a call from local pd about a threat to our hs and middle school. They said it’s fine, they have the person and school isn’t cancelled but how can we send our kids to school like this??
