@JCCovi: sounds great! It is so helpful to find what works now that you have the lay of the land. I also think she is likely at the age where if you tell her what is lunch and what is snack and it is all thrown together than she can figure out how to divide up the food. And if she crams a ton of food at morning snack and then is hungry at afternoon snack then there is a natural consequence and learning curve for her. This is good practice for K too!

Thanks everyone! I think I’m going to buy a bigger lunch bag/box so I can cram everything in. They have a little box for their stuff so I didn’t end up leaving her backpack. She looked a little weighed down with 2 lunch bags (what I did today) plus her water bottle and hat. I’m going to get the smallest bag that will hold everything and fit in the box!

Hmm it depends. For preschool (and I assume same procedure for summer session now), when they get into class they put lunch/snacks at different places so we always had to pack them separate.

I pack my son's snack in a little hard sided locking cube case. It fits his yogurt, mini muffin, spoon and napkin. Then his lunch is separate, as is the water bottle.

For camp and school we use backpacks so I put their snacks (always do dry stuff ) in the side pocket of their bag - keeps it separate from lunch so there is no confusion

@MamaCate: I don’t know the storage situation because I can’t remember from the tour! It was 5 months ago! I’m going to check everything out tomorrow, so even if I mess up the first day I can correct going forward... Pencil pouches are a good idea! I’m going to look for some of those.

@JCCovi: my DD has to bring lunch and snack for kinder. They had us buy a pencil pouch which we used for snack. Both morning and afternoon snack in there in her backpack with her name big on it. Then lunch in her lunch box. I would suggest something like that.

What is the storage situation? Do they have cubbies or backpacks or anything else?

I have to pack lunch, morning snack, and afternoon snack for my daughters camp that starts tomorrow. She'll also be attending that school for K and it will be the same. How should I pack everything so it's clear which is which and doesn't take up a ton of space?

She has a stainless steel lunch box with layers for her lunch and I was going to put it inside one of those insulated kid lunch bags. I could use a smaller container for each snack, but I don't know if they would all fit in the lunch bag? Do I need to label them which meal/snack they are for? Should I sent two bags, one for snack and one for lunch?
