thanks guys! i might try to make a couple of my own WonderBumpers, and just put them in the spot he drifts to, since they're a lot of money. But great ideas all around :)

There are these things:

http://www.amazon.com/Go-Mama-Designs-Bumpers-Chocolate/dp/B003733T28/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1345659787&sr=8-1&keywords=crib+slat+covers

DS is all over his crib in the middle of the night, but I've discovered if I tuck him in, he stays more in one place. I use a blanket my SIL crocheted for him, so it has big holes in it, and I lay him down in the middle of his crib and then tuck the blanket over top of him and between the matress and sides of the crib. He can still roll over to sleep on his tummy, but it limits his scooting ability.

The breathable bumpers are a waste, IMO. They don't really help with the bumping at all. Have a look at WonderBumpers.

Thanks Mamamoose! I failed to mention that I did get one, which has been great, because the original problem was his little limbs getting stuck through the slats, which was cute but not helpful in the sleep department...but it's not really soft enough for the head smash.... PLUS he hasn't mastered scooting backwards (honestly I've only seen him do this new scoot maneuver while asleep....)

Try a breathable bumper. They are very thin so they won't provide too much of a cushion but perhaps just having a small layer of fabric between him and the wood of the crib will help.

Hi ladies - my 3 month old is out of the swaddle and has mastered rolling to his tummy and now loves sleeping there, which I'm ok with. The tricky part is that he is now SCOOTING in his crib, while asleep, and waking himself when he bumps into the crib slats....UGH! I don't want to use a bumper, because they freak me out a bit with the SIDS risk. Any ideas to keep him from scooting so much? Or to help him sleep through it - besides CIO?
