I third/fourth glass around the legs of the bed. Not leaving night lights on, checking the ceiling before going to bed, no bedding hanging off the bed. Often houses around irrigation canals and water features have the most incidence. Many of us desert rats have survived to adulthood with scorpions around, but yes their stings can be very serious for babies and small children.

I second what @DesertDreams88 said! I live in AZ too and was going to suggest the glass containers over legs of furniture as well. Freaking hate scorpions.

Off the top of my head: cats eat scorpions, hunting them nightly with a blacklight, sealing the house, dimatecous earth around the perimeter of the house, removing all piles of leaves/rocks/plant cuttings etc, keeping everythung in the garage in sealed plastic containers, putting the legs of cribs and beds in jars (they can't climb glass), moving furniture away from walls and no blankets hanging down to the floor. AZ is having a horrible scorpion season right now because of a warm winter :( it freaks me out.

We've seen a few scorpions in and around our house and it was terrifying at first! There are great tips online for getting rid of scorpions. The big thing I learned from the online tips is that scorpions feed on other insects, so it helps to kill off all the other insects in the house first... I'm planning to fog our attic too, since I think that will help get rid of insects in our house.

Oh my freaking god my cousin just had to snatch her sleeping 4mo out of bed because a scorpion was crawling up to her. Pardon me while I never sleep again even though I live a thousand miles away and there are no scorpions here. But seriously, anyone have any suggestions? They just had the exterminator out a month ago specifically for scorpions, but they're still finding them. I suggested mosquito netting for the bed, but they cosleep so I'm not sure the logistics of that with a king size bed.

I HATE scorpions, to the point I can't look at them even (pretty sure it's a genuine phobia), so I'm completely freaked out, and so is she.
