@wheres_c- my son got his face good twice and it happened when my DH forgot to put his mittens on when he was asleep.

I find that mittens and socks work best. My son only rubs his face when he is sleepy so mittens/socks for those occasions only. During the day, he is fine. I let him have free range with his fingers to promote fine motor control.

LO does the same thing (7 months) she got her forehead good the other day because her nails were too long. That is her soothing techinique, now if I see it on the monitor I go and give her her security blanket & she puts that up by her face and falls asleep.

My DS did this a lot too! I ended up giving him an A&A security blanket so he could rub his face with it, he loved it and still uses it at 7 months...

My LO does the same thing . . . she has vicious face/eye rub! Other than keeping her nails clipped and filed, there really isn't anything else you can do. I give her soft lovies in the hopes that she will rub the lovey on her face instead of her hands/fingers, and sometimes it works(!), but other than that . . . nadda.

My 3 month old will NOT stop scratching his face in his sleep. One way he self soothes is by rubbing his face ! I hate seeing him scratched up and keep his nails short. Any other tips ?
