We nap trained at 7 months and it made all the difference in the world. Before that I was feeding and rocking her to sleep and it worked like a charm, until it didn't. The song and dance to get her down for naps became so ridiculous. We nap trained ,'it only took 2-3 days and she was a new baby. She put herself to sleep, her naps lengthened, and I got my sanity back!

I don't know what's going on with your LO, but mine cried herself down for every nap until she was close to 18 months old. And so did her cousin. It can be normal.

We went through a similar phase probably around that time. DS was used to napping in the swing and then he started to outgrow it, but still needed the motion in order to fall asleep. I got in the habit of rocking him, and it would take forever to get him to nap because the second I put him down he would scream. I let him CIO and checked on him every 5-10 minutes. Eventually it got better and he started going down for naps without an issue. Until we hit the 18 month sleep regression, but that's a story for another day! Lol Try to be consistent. It will get better.

I have no advice but I just wanted to commiserate. We are going through the same thing. LO is 7 months old and she has screamed at nap time for 2 weeks. She goes down eventually but there is definitely a fight to get there 90% of the time. For us I believe it is our new normal. Hope it is just a phase for you

man, naps. it's hard to say whether it's a phase or new normal since it's only been a few days. some of my LO's sleep regressions have lasted a few weeks. i think what you do is entirely up to you, no right or wrong. you can nap train, or you could wait for the phase to be over (until either the phase does end or you can't take it anymore and want to nap train). sorry you are dealing with this, it's no fun for anyone!

We got into the habit of rocking DS (7.5mo) to sleep. Most of the time, it has been pretty easy. Right now we're having some trouble BFing (likely developmental), so I've been feeding him to sleep a lot of the time. Still pretty easy. Except now the last 2-3 days he's been screaming and shrieking when I try to put him to sleep. He'll eat some, but if he isn't hungry enough and I still try to get him to sleep, all hell breaks loose. Getting him down takes forever. He is certainly tired, and I haven't waited too long to put him down. Oh, and his two bottom teeth popped out a few weeks ago and are still growing in.

So, is this our new normal, or just something he's going through right now?
