@MoonMoon: HAH! We call her a velociraptor too!

@meganmp: @MamaJ: Thank you! Yeah, we need to stop reacting to it. She just giggles and screams more when we do. Little pooper.

Oh yeah, we call him the veloceraptor, lol! He's 10.5 months and the happy screams don't bug me as much as the frustrated ones (like screaming to be pickled up). Honestly, it does seem to be letting up more and more every day. We try to not react too much, positively or negatively. I can't wait until he can verbalize!

My LO did this. Probably around the same age. It got to be a problem though because MIL would scream back with him especially at the dinner table. I had to keep telling him "shh we don't yell at the table" and eventually MIL caught on and stopped and then he stopped. It was a real issue when we went out to dinner.

He still does it when he is super excited and playing but not as much.

@Bookish: Yeah, poor thing! My inlaws have her three days a week and they have a walker (that they totally overuse but it makes her so happy!). She runs all over their house! It has given her a taste of freedom and so she's so mad when she can't move at home, to explore! DH suggested we get one but I think she needs to learn to get about herself, which she will never do if shes always in a walker - so instead we just deal with a very frustrated, shouting baby!!

@Bookish: This isn't going to help you, but I'm still waiting for DS to grow out of it, and he's 17 months. I have actual hearing loss from it, and I have tinnitus all the time. I asked the ped about it, and she said there isn't much you can do besides tell them, "Ouch! That hurts mama's ears!" and then make the sound you want them to mimic.

Oh yeah, my LO totally did this for a few months and I agree it can be a little rough on the ears. She stopped when she was able to use more words, luckily.

@Cherrybee: Aw poor dear! she still mad about crawling?

I admit, the happy squeals are pretty cute, but holy cow is she loud!!!

I think it sounds really cute!! But that's probably because I don't have to listen to it. E whines/cries constantly (out of frustration) but she doesn't scream happily!

Bump?

Now y'all are making me think this constant screaming thing might not be normal! :silly:

So, someone reassure me that the screaming phase doesn't last forever! :silly: My LO is almost 10 months old and is an incredibly active little girl. She never stops moving! And now, she never stops screaming! 75% of the time they are happy screams, like she's just testing out her voice box, but holy cow.

I know this is not a discipline issue, just a developmental thing, but someone tell me that my LO will not scream the entire plane ride to Orlando in two weeks?! Pleeaaase ;)

Anyone else have a ridiculous screamer on their hands? Or have one that grew out of it and started saying actual babbles?
