@gingerbebe: @pinkcupcake: that's a good idea. We toast sheets of nori at home when we're making maki, I should just do that for the baby too! Glad your LOs like it!

@gingerbebe: agree! You can roast your own and control sodium that way.

Personally I'm lazy and prefer the pre roasted kind :) she eats them with rice so it's not too salty

You can buy sheets of sushi nori (the untoasted stuff) and just quickly toast it over your stove for a second or two on each side. You know its done when the sheet turns green, instead of black. Then you can quickly brush it with toasted sesame oil with a basting brush and leave out the salt.

My mom actually prefers to hand-toast and oil/salt her own nori because it tastes better.

We introduced it when they were about 8 months. We would cut the nori into 4ths and wrap it over small bits of rice. That way the rice balances out the salt and they're getting at most 1-2 slices of nori. They could also self feed a lot easier that way without making a mess.

LO is 9 months old and loves food. The transition to solids is going well and I'm always looking for healthy finger foods ideas. Specifically I'm thinking of roasted nori, which DH and I both love, but worried about sodium content. It does seem to vary a lot by brand.

Do you give your LO sea vegetables? What age did you start?
