@mrs. wagon: acupuncture is actually the only thing that helps me! None of the OTC meds helped.

I actually get allergy shots now because seasonal allergies are an asthma trigger for me. I also use SinusBuster the nasal spray with capsacin. It burns like hell for a few seconds but I love it, it clears my nose out and gets rid of sinus headaches. I also use a nasal spray with xylitol in it that makes my nose and sinuses also clear out ASAP.

I also shower after being outside, especially before bed so
I can leave pollen behind. I use a netipot after being outside too, to wash the allergens away. Good luck!

So I just wanted to put it out there... you should try generics from other sources too... I found that the generic Clearitin from Costco doesn't work for me! But the generic Clearitin from Kaiser is the best for me. Also the generic Zyrtec from Costco works better for me than the real Zyrtec.

My doctor warned me to switch my allergy meds up so that my body doesn't get use to one so I switch between the generic Clearitin from Kaiser and the generic Zyrtec from Costco about every month.

This keeps my allergies under control for the most part. :)

I hear you!!! I always joke I love nature but nature does not love me!! I woke up this morning with a wicked sinus headache as I spent yesterday raking the lawn and playing in the gardens. I am 16 weeks pregnant so can't take anything. I had a hot shower and massaged my sinuses and that relieved the pressure but not completely.

I normally switch between Arius and Allegra along with a nasal spray. I usually end up with a sinus infection. I try to avoid Benadryl and it knocks me out and makes me feel horrible but I will get so bad I break out in a head to toe rash plus my sinus issues. 2 days of Benadryl coma usually kicks it.

This summer is going. To be interesting.........
Spring is just hitting here ( central canada ) so it is only just beginning.

Mine are so bad too. Unfortunately I'm no help, OTC meds dry me out and make me tired so I've just been suffering and using Visine like crazy.

@mrbee: a water fast...!!! is that what it sounds like? Craziness!! Luckily for me my sinuses haven't been too bad, it's really more about the nose/throat itching and eye watering.

@meredithNYC: I got knocked out by the "non-drowsy" meds too..!! Ack!! glad to know I'm not alone!

Mine are so bad :( I am pregnant so I can't take my regular hard-core prescription stuff, only Claritin. And even with that I have been trying to minimize, so I've only been taking it every few days. So I've been suffering! I feel like I've looked like a zombie from Walking Dead for the last few weeks at work.

I don't really take any meds anymore since I find that they barely help and make me SO sleepy (even the supposed non-drowsy varieties). Now I just use eye drops pretty much constantly since my eyes are always so red and itchy and I do the Neti-pot after showering in the morning. It's not perfect, but it helps and I don't get the tiredness.

@mrs. wagon: I'm also suffering! What's worked best for me is a nasal spray, and also a 1-2 day water fast. A water fast will completely drain your sinuses, it is crazy. I did it two weeks ago over the weekend while suffering terribly from allergies, and it saved me!

UGH, the pollen is thick in the air and I am definitely going DOWN! My allergies have been pretty mild in the past few years but this year I am suffering pretty badly.

I have been experimenting since all the allergy meds are OTC now, so I did generic Claritin first and it didn't seem to do much... I just bought some generic Allegra and again, doesn't seem to be doing much :( I guess generic Zyrtec is next?? I hope Costco takes back my almost-full bottles for a store credit because these meds ain't doin anything for me!! I've been giving each med about a week to see if they need to kick in or something.

Can any allergy regulars help???
