I think for month names, I prefer that it doesn't actually match the birth month. For seasonal names, I don't think it matters, but it would be kind of neat to match.

My daughters middle name is June and she was born in May. Didn't occur to me that would be weird.

No. My daughters middle name is June, even though she was born in April. She's named after her great grandmother. We also very seriously considered naming her Autumn.

No I don't think they have to coincide to when they were born. My first thought would be there is a special reason or meaning behind the name. I know 2 ladies named June and both were named after their parent's anniversary month.

I think it does sometimes. I know of a summer may and she was born in winter. That is a lot of different seasons! But I agree, names like april are common enough not to be season specific.

I don't think it matters too much... That wouldn't be my first thought when I heard a seasonal name.

I voted other-some seasonal names are so common, like April, they can be used for anyone. But some sound a lot more tied to their season to me, like Summer.

We considered Leo as a boy name, but decided against it because of when he'd be born. Although writing this out makes my logic sound a little weird!

No, I don't think it needs to coincide. When I hear the names Winter, Autumn, Summer... it doesn't cross my mind to think, "oh they must've been a summer baby" or anything like that.

It varies by name. April has become such a common name that I wouldn't think anything of it if she was born another time of year. But as a general statement, I do think they should coincide. Most seasonal names are sufficiently rare enough that there is some expectation of that by society. That said, if you really love a name, use it anyway.

I'm probably biased because our daughter's middle name is Winter and she was born in January.

I like a handful of seasonal names such as Summer, April, June, Autumn and August. But I was wondering, do seasonal names need to correspond to when the baby is born? Is it silly to name a baby born in winter, Summer?
