We got the grandparents on video chat and opened presents and had cake and generally made a big deal of him, but that was about the extent of it. My plan was just to make it a day where we did all of his favorite things and we gave him 100% of ourselves (so, no email checking, phone calls, housework, etc. until he napped). We did well with that, and he had a great day both times! </p> <p>He has some real friends now, so I'm going to do a small 3rd birthday party this year. Probably 2-3 guests (plus their siblings and parents).
