I don't know if I'll skip any of the rules, but I will likely be more "lax" as in "relaxed" lol. This time around I am pretty paranoid about everything that could go wrong.

yes, lax 2nd time around. agree with the other posters, just so tired chasing the other little one around, i forgot the vitamins, didn't eat as well. and as careful and diligent as i was with the 1st one, she still had eczema and lots of allergy issues, while my 2nd one has none of that.

Eh. About the same. I took OTC reflux/heartburn meds daily and refused to with DS. I didn't have time to be in pain chasing another little one around.

@sandy: I only ate it if it was really good quality. I say do what you feel comfortable with, but it's not worth it if it causes you to feel guilty! I wrote about this awhile back - http://www.hellobee.com/2012/11/16/pregnancy-the-second-time-around/

I broke all the rules (except smoking and anything illegal) with both my pregnancies in moderation. I just went with what my body gave me the ok for- if I wanted sushi, I went to a place with high quality ingredients. Each pregnancy is different, with my first, I could not get enough sushi, with my second it was not appetizing at all.

The big differences between my first and second pregnancies was that I didn't bother to follow the pregnancy apps or know where every single developmental stage was at, or even remember what exact week I was at.

@Mrs. High Heels: I love all of these and am kind of dreaming of indulging once I get past the first trimester. For some reason raw fish and raw oysters scare me the most even though I eat them all the time when not pregnant

I broke practically all the rules except I didn't gamble with alcohol. Ironic because DS had none of the issues that DD had (reflux, eczema, allergies...)

@sandy: I think that's how I feel. When I was pregnant with my daughter, I was obsessed with everything pregnancy and had it on my mind 24/7. Now I'm so busy chasing after my toddler that even if I wanted to thinks about my pregnancy all day, I don't think I'll have the time / energy to :)

I was pretty laid back the 1st time and even more so the second time. Basically, I don't drink alcohol (though I've had a couple of sips) and I follow the prescribed OTC meds list.

I think with my first pregnancy it was easy to follow all of the rules bc you can focus a lot of time/energy into the whole pregnancy process. I knew all the foods to avoid and laid off of caffeine and meds and took my vitamins religiously. I just don't have as much time to think about this pregnancy - sometimes I can barely remember how many weeks I am and I've gone to bed realizing I never took my prenatal a few times. I ate a sandwich with deli meat the week I got my BFP bc I just forgot that I wasn't supposed to have it. So it's not that I'm purposefully more lax it's more that I'm just more forgetful this pregnancy

I didn't strictly follow the rules in the first place with DS#1 ;) I had a glass of wine for my birthday, Thanksgiving, AND Christmas. I drank a moderate amount of coffee/caffeine. I did eat and exercise pretty well, and I skipped roller coasters, but everything else was pretty lax - so no, I'm not trying to slip into negligence, I'll probably do the same with LO#2.

Depending on how things go, I may remain on an anti-depressant (for anxiety) during pregnancy with #2. I have not yet decided. I was pretty obsessive about medication with #1.

I pretty much followed every single "rule" during my first pregnancy - I was such a paranoid FTM-to-be. I don't think I'll be as diligent during my second pregnancy, though, and that makes me feel kinda bad to my (yet nonexistent) LO #2 :P

Moms with 2 (or more) - did you find yourself "breaking more rules" for subsequent pregnancies? Which ones?
