I used to own every cake decorating tool ever, and I got rid of it all when I moved to my current state. With only a spatula and 1 cake pan on each size, I managed to make a not-terrible 2 tier rainbow cake. Sitting on my yoga ball, doing hip circles, working on puzzles!</p> <p>My own low-key hobby is metal enameling - usually copper, sometimes silver. I started out by taking summer classes at my local art center as a kid and then came back to it after a super long break. I have my own kiln and probably hundreds of enamels, but I definitely don't have the time I would love to dedicate to it or the space at our house for my setup like I had at our previous home. Some of my supplies are leaded, so I always have to take a break if I am pregnant or nursing, and keep everything away from the kids.<br /> My favorite things to make are jewelry or little catch-all dishes. The quirky part is that I'm obsessed with address labels and stamps, so I have a huge selection of both to choose from. Games that require short bouts of concentration with a set time limit works well for me (i.e. cooking games, Plants vs. Zombies). But I enjoy playing games overall. I always have. I even play Roblox with DD and convince myself I do it for supervision :happy: </p> <p>During winter, I love getting into researching my (and DH's) family tree. I'm also into genetic genealogy and really nerd out on that - I manage all of our accounts and have discovered long lost branches of DH's family tree thanks to DNA testing. I've also uncovered certain inherited vitamin deficiencies and my own long lost relatives especially thanks to 23andme and FamilyTreeDNA. </p> <p>I enjoy cooking, growing veggies from seed (also something I start during winter). I had a stove top pressure cooker before pressure cookers were cool. Complete Book of Home Preservation, that's my jam.</p> <p>Sewing and quilting. I've dabbled in this. My machine is on the top shelf of the garage, once we are dome having kids and they are school aged I'll take it up again.</p> <p>Also, cross stitching.</p> <p>Stockpiling to a healthy extent. I'm a FT WOH mom and it's how I do it. I don't have 87 bottles of shampoo but I do have 10 boxes of noodles I got on sale, bulk popcorn, 1/4 beef, Costco size everything that is non perishable. We could live off our deep freezer and our pantry, replenishing fresh foods only for a couple months. We live rurally, 30 minutes from a decent grocery store. This method paid off when DH was injured and out of commission for several months...I didn't have worry about stopping at a store because we were running out of TP or whatever...I could just focus on survival. </p> <p>I LOVE learning new things and researching. </p>
