My sister was diagnosed with epilepsy in her 20s. Medication couldn’t control them so ended up having brain surgery and no longer has seizures but still takes an anti-convulsants. She worked but couldn’t drive for years before the surgery.
Most seizures are controlled with anti-convulsants.
I hope yours was just a 1 time thing. Thank goodness you were at home and your husband was there. It is so scary. 🙁

Hi! I randomly deceloped temporal lobe epilepsy at 29-- no family history, no head trauma, it just happened. My worst experience was 14 seizures in one day. They gave me lamictal for a year, I lost my license for that time, i feared every seizure. After about six months of meds, the seizures stopped. That was 6 years ago. I've been med free for 4 years.

I do worry, from time to time, that it'll happen again, especially since it came out of the blue. But getting tests done and putting a name on it helped. I know it's scary, but it'll be okay.

I am in desperate need of something....commiseration, advice, just a vent?? I just feel really alone and scared.

I had a seizure (my first) last week. Luckily DH was home and witnessed it so the Doctors are pretty positive it was a tonic-clonic seizure. I had no warnings anything was wrong; just collapsed while standing in my kitchen. I woke up to paramedics all around me with no recollection of what had occurred. It was terrifying.

At the hospital I had labs and a CT scan done. Everything looked normal. I’m still waiting for insurance approval to get a MRI and EEG. They put me on an anti-convulsant. I’m constantly afraid of having another and/or something really serious going on. On top of everything, I’m not allowed to drive for several months. I’m so paranoid and am having trouble figuring out what this new “normal” is.

Have any of you experienced a random seizure before? I would love to talk to someone who has been through this.
