DD definitely cut down her bottles on her own around 10 months - she went from drinking 12oz of breast milk to only 8-10 oz at daycare. She still nursed like a champ though for a long time after that. I just followed her lead and it was an easy transition to a straw cup of WCM. She gets a 12oz cup of WCM a day and usually drinks 8-10oz of it. She gets plenty of cheese and yogurt, so I figure she's just fine! I would definitely take advantage of the self weaning, though! In a few weeks he could change his mind and be all about the bottle and you'll have missed your chance! We did this with pacifiers saw an opportunity and took it- it was so easy!

My DD self weaned from bottles at 11 months. We just used sippy cups of milk... it was a very easy transition

I'd run with it and make sure you at least offer it in a sippy for meals :)

LO 2 dropped all bottles at 10.5 months. She was already using a straw cup for water so I just put pumped BM into the cups.

I would capitalize on it and start offering a sippy of milk instead. I reduced nursing around 11m!

At this age my LO went to 2 bottles a day, morning and after dinner. I didn't offer milk until after 12 months , and instead gave a sippy cup of water and made sure he ate yogurt and cheese during the day.

@SweetCaroline: we gave a sippy with milk. Then upped her afternoon snack since it took her a couple weeks to really drink much in sippy's.

My son started fighting his bottles at 9 months and we were fighting to get him to take 12oz a day. By 11 months we just gave him a 2oz snack bottle to suck on while we were prepping his breakfast and moved to straw cups completely. He still didn't love formula or milk in the cup but after a while he just got used to it. Ped said to shoot for 8-12oz of milk a day after 1 and that's where we are more or less, plus as much water as he wants.

@Smurfette: Thanks for sharing! Did you just skip the afternoon bottles all together then? Or did you try to get milk in her via sippy cup?

My LO dropped her afternoon bottles around 11.5 months. I think teething had something to do with it. But she still drank her morning and night till we went cold turkey on bottles once she turned 1.

Is this a thing? My just turned 11 month old has become too cool for bottles, except her nighttime one. She was on a 6am, 10am, 2pm, 7pm schedule. She is refusing to drink more than a couple ounces at 6am and 10am. She eats a very substantial breakfast at 8am and lunch at 11:30am.

She eats yogurt and cheese and drinks lots of water, so from a nutrient and hydration standpoint I feel OK.

I think I'm just going to start offering a sippy cup of milk at 6am. Any other ideas? Tell me this is normal?
