I've kept most of our daughter's stuff. Some things I got rid of, but most of it, I held on to them. We will start trying for baby #2 this fall. Once we find out what baby #2 is and when they will come, I'll go back through and weed out/sort stuff.

I kept EVERYTHING, so we have the same problem. And I don't even know if we'll have another, but I hate the "what if" thoughts and hold onto it all. I like the idea of saving favorites and giving the rest away, so maybe I"ll work on it.

I'm dealing with this with our baby girl clothes. We're two and through, as far as I'm concerned. DH is 99.9% on board with that. BUT, I'm having a hard time selling K's clothes, because WHAT IF?
However, the chances of 1. having a 3rd and 2. it being another girl....pretty slim. I might take someone's recommendation from above and keep a tote of my favourites.

I have no idea if we're having another. We're leaning no. But regardless, I'm getting rid of almost all of the baby gear/clothes. For clothes, I feel like the chances of us 1) having another girl and 2) having her be born in the same season and 3) growing at the same exact rate is pretty slim. So I'm just keeping my favorite/sentimental clothes. Maybe 1/3 of a rubbermaid for the whole first year. The rest I gave to a friend who had a daughter. For gear most of ours was hand me down and I have 2 friends who had babies after us so why not pay it forward. Maybe if we have another some of it (or other stuff) will boomerang back to us :)

I've saved everything I could see myself dressing another baby in, even though a lot is pink. If everything goes according to plan we'll have a LO2 next year and I can see sorting things for maximum two years.

We will be moving in that time but it is paid for by DH's work and done by their movers so it won't be any extra work for me. I've been storing things at my parents house.

We're probably going to have a second kid, so I'm saving all of the clothes we have. We actually got 100% of his clothes as hand-me-downs or gifts! After #2, I'm going to sell/donate all of his clothes. I think because they were all hand-me-downs to begin with, I don't really feel any special connection with his clothes.

We very much planning on a 3rd baby but I just did a big clothing purge. With having 1 boy and 1 girl we just had WAY too much stuff to store and I like shopping, plus styles change so I just kept basics (plain onesies/t's/classic sweaters and my favourites) and have been selling off the rest. I have a small under bed storage box per size and only keep what can fit in that box (for both boy and girl clothes)

We donated everything but the outfit he came home in to a local women and children's shelter. We were pretty certain we were stopping at one and didn't have the space to hold onto the clothes on the 2% "just in case".

So of course now I'm pregnant, and I do wish I had kept at least a box of my favorite pieces, but I don't regret getting rid of the bulk, even if it means I have to replace it now.

I got rid of the majority of his things, keeping less than a rubbermaid bin (about half full) of special outfits.

I did find that storing them for a 1-2 years+ caused weird yellow stains. Most did come out in the wash, but I figured even if we DO have another one, I don't want to go through that while pregnant and want someone else to get use out of them while they're still in good condition!

I just went through T's newborn and 0-3 mo clothes. I kept two very special outfits one in each size to give to her someday. Then I kept all of the gender neutral items (and all the items people loaned us & wanted back) and the clothes she actually wore a lot. I took everything else to a consingment shop mostly frilly stuff or things with lots of words that were gifted to us. They took everything that was free of stains and I get 40%. They donate whatever does not sell. I am storing what's left in 2 gallon zip locks folded by size.

We have a boy and a girl and between both kids I already have over 10 Rubbermaid containers stuffed with clothing. I'm going to have to get rid of some soon, but it makes me so, so, so sad.

If you haven't ruled it out completely, I'd save them. If/when you have another and find out gender then either keep or save.

I did exactly what @ALV91711: @T.H.O.U.: did JUST last night! We are moving and live in apartments and it just didn't make sense to hold on to it. I want to be pregnant again in about a year, but due to my circumstances it may NEVER happen! And who knows, could be a girl.
It was so so so hard to get rid of stuff. But the girl I gave it to is my sisters friend and she really needed it. It felt good to know she'd be so excited.
I also kept favorites/sentimental pieces. I am a sentimental person so it was tough - I could remember everything he wore and when so I had to force myself on a few.
I also kept things that could maybe be gender neutral. Just in case!

I had two boxes because I had already started saving stuff when I realized I wouldn't have enough space.. And then when ttc started taking awhile I thought there's no guarantee we even have another of the same gender and even if we do well probably want to buy some of her stuff new.. Turns out we're having a boy this time around so it worked out!

I'm in this boat, too - not 100% sure if/ when we will have a third....but having some items worn by two girls is making it doubly hard to let them go! My SILs aren't helping because they keep telling me they want things for if/when they have baby girls. It's getting out of control though. I've fobe small weed outs but need to do a bigger one soon.

I kept my daughter's clothing for four years, in the hope that the next one would be a girl, and I just donated all her clothing. I made sure to keep the important outfits, but got rid of the rest. The way I figure it, if I have another girl, it might not be the same season anyways. Plus it is fun to go shopping :)

Right now we have no plans at all for #2. We haven't ruled out a second child completely but it would have to be a sudden change of plans one day in the future, and DEFINITELY not at least for 2+ years. I've been holding on to all of his outgrown clothes since birth, saving them for the second child we always planned on, but now since we've decided to be one and done, I don't see the point in holding on to them.

But I also don't want to think about getting rid of all his clothes! :crying:

Go ahead and sell or keep JUST in case?
