We have this one for our 5mo. I love the price, the easy install, the no thread adjusting, the easy buckles, the cup holder, the 65lb weight limit, and the head padding. I don't love how cold to the touch the fabric is in winter, similarly it might get sweaty in summer. But it will be easy to wipe down.

I have and enjoy the Radian RXT but it's not the easiest to install. However, it has an awesome lifespan and it's great for taller kids, so something to consider as long as you won't have to move it.

If you think you'll have to move the seat much, I would definitely look into a Britax Click Tight -- they are seriously awesome for installation. I just got my older son a FF-only Frontier and it's awesome. We also had an older Marathon convertible and liked it, but it wasn't awesome for a tall kid. I think the Click Tights have more room in the shell though.

@jlm22: get the rxt. It doesn't have the extra bulky width on top. And should still be on sale on amazon. Most car seat reviewers I've read actually prefer the rxt!

We love the Britax Marathon ClickTight that we have. I wanted something with a super easy seatbelt install, because of the LATCH requirement changes that came out a few years ago. It's comfortable and easy to clean and is really easy to install.

I just ordered the Clek Fllo, and was impressed by all of the things that @OliviaOblivia , @Stratosphere and @MrsB2012 mentioned. The Fllo is a little less deep RF and high than the Foonf, and has only a 13" base (good for bucket seats and centre seat), but 17" at the widest point.

@Reese: not as much as most. We have them in my Sienna now but had them in a Subaru Forester first and they were fine. The Forster is notorious for difficult RF installations.

@oliviaoblivia: we just bought the fllo (for most of the reasons you listed) but haven't installed it yet. Do they "lean back" a lot? I'm worried it will be too crammed in our small car and we aren't getting an SUV until next year.

We also have the Chicco Nextfit. I love it, but I have to say we have the Nextfit and the cx and the CX is totally worth the extra couple bucks, not so much for his comfort but the padding on the belt makes it stick out and is MUCH easier to get him in without trying to fish the buckle out from under his bottom etc.like @MRSJX3 mentioned. We just put that one in the car we use less bc we had it. I agree, super easy to install, great safety ratings and we have been happy with this one as well as the chicco bucket.

Also, for the record, for a long while I didn't take the bucket out of the base. I found it way too heavy as well, so I just took him out like you would for a convertible and left the seat in the car. Not sure if that's something you want to do, or if you are worried about maxing out height or weight... but you might have a bit longer than you think. If you want.

@Ash: We have the same three brands (Britax, Diono, and Graco). I prefer the Britax especially for kids under 2/3. Once she was a bit older the low sides on the Diono are really nice.

We have Clek Fllos and love them. All the safety of the Foonf but not as big, heavy, or expensive.
Cleaning them is so easy. I wish my sofa was upholstered in the same fabric.
We can easily fit an adult between them.
ERF is important to me and with 90+% kids it's great to be able to rear face safely for a long time.
Easy install.
My girls love to sit up higher.
Nice looking.
Made in Canada.

We have Diono RXT as well as a Britax Boulevard. I love Diono for FF - it juts out while RF though. Still a great seat, but something to consider if you need leg room or if that seat has to be behind the driver. The Britax also is a great seat, but I think the straps are difficult to adjust and it's a wider seat.

We also have the Clek Foonf and love it for all the reasons @MrsB2012 mentioned.

We only use one of our cars almost all the time, but we just decided to get a second Foonf for our other car, so we won't have to switch the car seat back and forth. Although it is easy to install, it is HEAVY (due to all the steel in its super sturdy/safe construction!). Personally I love that it's heavy--means they chose the safest materials and not just the lightest weight ones in its fabrication and design. I also LOVE the anti-rebound bar for rear-facing. In doing a bunch of research that feature became very important to me. I think you can get one optional for the Peg Pereggo, which was the other seat I seriously considered (my best friend has one and loves it), but I was thinking ultimately I wanted something narrower to potentially fit two seats next to each other and leave space for an adult in the back row if we have a second LO (currently trying).

Another thing to consider--if you have a LO that gets easily carsick (mine became a hairtrigger vomiter at 12.5 months...ugh) the Foonf is great because it sits the LO very high and they can easily see out the back window, which helps SO much for preventing carsicknesss.

We have the clek foonf. It has a high price point, but it also doesn't expire for 9 years ( the longest life span on the market I believe.) It also has extended rear facing up to 40 pounds, and forward facing up to 65 pounds.
If you need to, you can fit 3 in a row in the back of a sedan as they are a little narrower than others.
It sits quite high, so the kids can see out the window as well.

I think it's worth the high price, it has great safety ratings, it's easy to install, and the extended rear facing is important to me. :)

We do road trips to my inlaws and we wanted something that is very comfortable for her. She's very happy in it and I'm very happy with it. The chicco, I want to love but the straps are really difficult to pull in and out.

We have a chicco nextfit and in really happy with it. Latch installation couldn't be easier, but installing with a seatbelt really isn't bad either. Doesn't scratch our seat leather, adjusting the strap height is easy. Very high rf weight and height limits (which ended up not mattering with our peanut but will with a tall kid). Takes up very little room front to back, which was the deciding factor for us, but it is wider than some, like the diono.

It is bulky though, so I wouldn't want to travel with it or carry it further than from one car to another. And if your kid has ever gotten car sick is seriously consider paying up for the zip off cover. I have the regular and my LO has only ever gotten car sick once but I probably would have paid $50 then and there for it to zip off. :(

Britax marathon. We have one for each child. Easy to install and remove. Doesn't mess with leather on seats. No rethreading of straps with automatic harnesses. Easy to travel with. I can carry both into daycare at once if I have to although slightly heavy.

peg perego convertible. I like that it allows for a long time rear facing (although it ended up being moot since we swithed at 26 months), and I like that it is very easy to install and change the height of the headrest (no re-thread straps I think it's called). And its very comfy for LO-very padded but not bulky. And the fact that it's faux leather and looks awesome and matches our car interior doesn't hurt!

I am considering going ahead and moving DD to a convertible car seat. We just went to her six month appointment today and she is already 20 lbs. 8 oz. (97.5%) and is 95% for height as well. She is definitely getting very, very heavy to carry around in the infant bucket.

So tell me about what convertible seat you have. Why do you like it? Is there anything about it that you would change? I need to figure out what seat I want to buy!
