I would think consigning would be your best bet at that price point. You could certainly try CL, but I know I'm personally a little leery of big-ticket items on there (unless a resale shop is advertising them) because it's hard to verify that you're really getting what's advertised.

That said, you may have a bigger chance in CL of major cities -- not sure where you live. I've always been in small or medium cities and people are definitely mostly looking for bargains.

I want to get a new TV console. I need to sell my current one before I get a new one. Where should I sell it? I haven't used Craigslist before and am unfamiliar with the type of bargain hunters on the site. My current console is a 1.5 yrs old, purchased new from Thomasville. It's 64 inches long and that is practically the sane length of the TV. I bought it for $1500. The one I want is on Overstock and is 72 inches long, so the TV is a bit shorter than the console. That's selling for $900. I know I will take a loss on my current console, but I want the sale price to cover the entire Overstock purchase. My other option (which we should have done to begin with) is build a custom console that would accomodate our side speakers on top of the furniture. I don't know how much that would cost.

Are people on Craigslist looking for furniture pieces that cost about $1,000? Where else should I look into selling it? I thought about consigning it, but the shops want to see the console in person before deciding if they will carry it.
