Sure! Do what you want! We started with purees but we moved onto BLW after 2 weeks. But DD still has an occasional pouch just for fun.

No reason it has to be all or none. We do mostly purées but mix in some more solid solids like apples, bananas, peaches, puffs and now at 8 months are adding in more solid foods as she masters the first ones. Her grasp is getting better so that helps. Giving her chunks at an earlier age wasn't too useful.

@LindsayInNY: anything really that's soft enough. Bananas, peas, sweet potato fries are great beginner BLW items.
I love the website wholesome baby foods because she has a dedicated BLW section and suggested food items for each age range.

This is what I do/did. LO 2 just does not like purees so we do BLW at home, even though daycare still tries to do purees.

@regberadaisy: What did you feed at home versus daycare? I don't really know where to begin! I'm going to ask the pediatrician at our next appointment but I want to do my own research ahead of time.

Absolutely. With both girls I didn't bring solids into day care until I felt they were good eaters. At daycare they don't get one on one attention like she does at home during meals and snack time.

That's what we did with DS1 b/c he didn't catch on with full BLW in the beginning. So we just kind of went with it. I'm planning on doing the same with DS2 next month.

I would just read up on BLW and go with that. I think this is the cookbook we had that had a lot of good info. http://www.amazon.com/The-Baby-Led-Weaning-Cookbook-Foodsand/dp/161519049X

Did anyone take a sorta-BLW approach to feeding? I don't see daycare being on board with it, nor do I want to have to explain things a thousand times like with the BFing. Can I do purees at daycare and BLW at home? Any BLW resources you would recommend to prepare myself?
