I know I've said this before, but I work in a middle school and schools are 90% women, most of whom are moms and we ALL get subs and stay home when our kids are sick.

In my case, my husband and I take turns with sick days. Your husband 100% needs to take the day and stay home.

@mrbee: Ha! It's a good idea but this "celebrity" vs. me working on an important project for my job just aren't comparable. If it was a big test week for his students that would be different.

I didn't want to be the bad guy but I told him that if she has a fever in the morning one of us is going to work and that person is me.

@mrsjazz: I think moms are always more willing to stay! DH and I split the day. He will cover for me until late afternoon and then will go to the office and come home after dinner. If I don't have meetings or presentations I will stay at home.

@Bao: Yeah, we'll see in the morning. But he normally leaves before we're up so we're checking her fever status early!!!

@Mrs. Pen: I'm willing to stay home more, too...but I feel like he's taking advantage of that right now. DH wins awards for perfect attendance at school! Ha.

@Truth Bombs: same-
That would infuriate me if he just ignored me!!! I'm super lucky that DH is typically more willing to stay home than I am, because he is the one with the flexible job/hours.

I'm equally curious about this celebrity lol
I get that he'd be disappointed to miss it, but B is legitimately sick and cannot go to school. And you have a meeting. And you already stayed home today.

@BKCaribBaby: I know. If I told you who the celebrity is you'd laugh so hard.

@brady80: My meeting is in the middle of the day and will probably be a couple of hours.

@Truth Bombs: Yeah. This is something we've bumped heads about since LO was 5 months. Trading off days seems the best option to me, too. He is like, "Just send her to school! She'll be fine."

You suggested he stay home with your sick child and he just ignored you? That would infuriate me. If your LO still has a fever in the morning she needs to stay home. When LO is home for more than a day, my husband and I trade off day, so if we were in your situation hubs would stay home. We usually try to plan in advance so if I knew I absolutely couldn't miss work the next day, I would opt to be the one to stay home on the first day she was sick, just in case she was sick again the next day.

Can you both do half days? My husband is always reluctant to stay home and thinks it's easier for me to re-schedule things! So annoying. We'll tag team on days when we both have things going on at work

This is pretty much a vent.

LO woke up with a wheezing breath on Saturday, it turned into a dry cough. She is acting like her normal self only with the dreaded cough. Her breathing got much better on Sunday and we sent her to school on Monday with a cough--but when she came home the cough was worse and kind of wet/phlegmy.

I felt like a bad parent for sending her to school yesterday. :crying: She woke up today with a fever and runny nose so I kept her home. We've been in front of the humidifier, she's got Vicks on, we did saline spray, Motrin for the fever, tea w/honey, soup, and rest. Only gave her the Motrin after taking her temp this afternoon and it went up a bit. She is still acting like her normal threenager self.

I worked from home but it's not a convenient time to wfh. Co-worker is out on paternity leave. Tomorrow I have a big meeting to work on a last-minute but big project due on Tuesday (that I have to write). FYI: I have taken off for parent teacher conference and to get her flu shot.

DH is a teacher. A b-list celebrity is coming to his school tomorrow to talk to the kids. He's excited about that. He also has a special meeting after school. He has made no mention of staying home. I suggested it and no response.

Also, to add to this vent my carpal tunnel is killing me and I have so much to write for work. I worked with a sleeping 3 year old on my lap typing with my left hand. UGH!
