@hellobeeboston: I don't remember all of the books, but these two showed up in my Kindle when I searched it just now - I remember them being good!

our pediatrician referred us for an eval with a nurse in the practice. she referred us to an OT. my little guy has issues with sensory modulation, which basically means he cant control the volume on his sensory input. sometimes its too much, and sometimes not enough. when he gets overstimulated he gets very hyper/manic and cant calm down. hes also having a hard time at daycare because there is a lot going on and by naptime he is so overwhelmed and tired that theres a lot of meltdowns and he is unable to follow the classroom rules.

trust your gut momma. we dont have any kind of diagnosis, but the OT has been really helpful for us!

@sorrycharlie: We bought a bunch of books on sensory issues, and it was like reading a description of our daughter! Then we started trying out the exercises in the books, and they had a big impact on her behavior... that's when we felt like we were on the right track. Eventually we got Early Intervention involved, and they helped too. But I think mostly it was the sensory activities that made the biggest difference!

How did you know your LO had sensory issues as opposed to just being "finicky"?

My daughter is 4 this September. She's very sensitive to loud noise, changes in equilibrium (she panics if she's at all off balance, like on a chair), extremely sensitive to water temp (anything more that slightly Luke warm is "hot"), she wigs out if her hair isn't tight enough (pony tail), etc.

This is a tough age anyway, and I'll likely bring it up at her next ped appt anyway. But just curious!
