Cam does, although we are still pretty new to having a formal diagnosis finally. His pediatrician wasn't really helpful to us, so she ended up referring us to their pediatric developmental nurse practitioner in the same practice. I had to push for some time to get this and several other extensive issues evaluated- she also had a two month wait list. She has been absolutely worth the wait and a wealth of resources.

She had us ask the school district for an evaluation, and it worked and we got a diagnosis for free. Testing for us would have been about $1,800 (for us we had more going on beyond sensory processing, including speech concerns), which would have been a huge stressor.

Any questions, I'm happy to tell you anything about our experiences

@Mrs. Lion: I did bring it up to her doctor last week, but I wanted to see how school started off to see how things ended up. So we didn't really take it anywhere I guess.

@Bao: I think im remembering that our kiddos have some similarities. If you have any suspicions a pediatric OT can definitely help! Ours was amazing, and insurance covered it like a regular dr visit because it was recommended by our pediatrician. uou could maybe start there.

@Bao: if you would be interested in moving forward with an assessment and/or possible therapy, I would look for a private occupational therapist in your area. Unless you have other behavioral/speech & Lang/etc concerns, it's likely the school district would not do an assessment & you would need to go the private practice route.

Does anyone's child have a sensory processing disorder? Looking for tips/advice/resources.

My 4 year old has been having some issues, and I've been doing research and its pointing to a (in my opinion) mild case of sensory processing disorder. A few of our current issues are her wiping after using the bathroom and insisting she's wet when not, and it becomes a 10 minute ordeal to go pee. Anything loud really upsets her, out of the norm in some instances, in my opinion. Tags on clothes drive her to a tantrum if not taken care of. I'm not a doctor so this is just my assumption.
