Did you stay in the room with her until she fell asleep? Did you talk to her during the 'freak out' phase or rub her back at all? or leave the room and come back every 5, 10, 15 mins etc. or leave and not come back? I just don't know what to do during the freak out because he just goes and goes and it never seems to get shorter.

LO went through a bout of this when she was 10 months and it was so heartbreaking! When it came to bedtime, I was as loving and gentle and soothing as possible, lengthening the routine as much as possible. When it came to putting her in her crib, she would freak the heck out...But I stuck to my guns and after about 10 minutes of freaking out, she finally figured it all out and went to sleep.

My 9 month old seems to be going through separation anxiety all of a sudden brought on by a recent vacation where he was totally off his schedule. He's OK during awake time, if I leave the room for a minute he'll cry but immediately will stop when I am back. Naptime and bedtime are a disaster now though. He screamed for 2 hours straight the other day when I put him down for a nap and would have kept going but I called it quits and went up and got him. How do I help him through this period? So far I've tried staying in the room with him and that had him screaming and reaching out at me for an hour before he fell asleep. Anyone with this experience have any other advice?
