@Freckles: @MamaMoose: I put him in his crib and patted/talked to him for 25 mins but he was hysterical and wouldn't stop so I picked him up :(

I hope this ends soon...

Yup pat and sing is what goes on at our house too. Sometimes I even just sit on the floor and hold her hand through the crib slats.

@Freckles: thanks! I haven't nursed to sleep in awhile because he doesn't fall asleep nursing anymore :( I used to be able to put him down awake, then the week 42 wonder week hit so I was only able to put him down asleep... and now this :(

I will try to pat him and talk to him and see what happens. Sigh.

I remember going through that when LO was that age. This was when nursing to sleep no longer worked and i couldn't leave her room (with stupid creaky floors) without her going crazy.

Instead of holding her, i patted her through the crib slats and just sang to her until she calmed down. Then continued to pat her until she fell asleep. It took a while, but that was the only thing i could do that i was comfortable with.

I honestly can't remember when it ended because it was basically from the 12 month mark until recently (just over 2 years old) that we stayed in the room with her until she fell asleep. Sorry i don't have better advice/news for you! I only recently started leaving the room while she was awake.

My DS is 11.5 months and suddenly (like overnight) has terrible separation anxiety. As soon as I leave the room he freaks, and conveniently this started just before we started daycare (but that's a whole separate post).

Anyways I'm wondering about bedtime. I've been holding him till he's fast asleep, but the second I put him down in his crib he's absolutely hysterical. I can't leave him like that.

Any tips? When will this end?? :(
